If Saylorville does happen to flood, any idea how far the flood water could impact Ankeny/Johnston?

This article is heartbreaking. I've only really cleaned up after a main floor flood once years ago. But it sticks with you.

I have seen my furniture float down the skiunk in 08, it was waste deep in the apartment (we had just moved back from St Louis). It sucks balls. We lived down by the Y in Ames.

Pump sump failed 3 years ago had 6 inches of water in my basement that was fun, we know live in west Ames when this occured so if the sump pump didnt fail we would have been fine. That sucked balls.

Was at my parents house this weekend in Spirit Lake and their sump pump failed. Thankfully the backup finally kicked on so it was just just carpet and padding to rip out that was a fun weekend. Flooding just flat out sucks and people in NWIA and the lakes are screwed for months.

My parents had Parks Marinia pull the boat and jet skit off the lake on East Okoboji, who knows when it will be put back in the water.

I’m sure the Army Corps of Engineers is watching the inflow and outflow levels pretty carefully.

All the water is coming from north of Fort Dodge. In 1993 it came from the northern and central Iowa. Areas south of the Saylorville damn seen to be more affected.

We are supposed to tubing on the Des Moines on the 7th of July. Currently Seven Oaks out of Boone says river activities are halted until the 6th.

After driving the mile long bridge when the reservoir is empty compared to when it’s high is an eye opener!!

Planning on going boating early afternoon on Wednesday at Saylorville, as of right now will it be safe to do so?

I think the only part of Johnston that really floods are a few houses in the development by the Johnston soccer fields.

It's been 6 years since Saylorville's level was raised significantly. A lot of the beach has grown in with weeds/plants the last couple summers. It'll be nice to get some beach back if that vegetation gets wiped out.

Ankeny and Johnston…Minimal.

Downtown and Des Moines proper along the Des Moines River are the areas in trouble. In 1993 the Valley Junction area also flooded badly from the Racoon River, but I think that levee has been rebuilt bigger since then.
