Most schools will be out tomorrow, my former school has already cancelled for Tuesday, it was in the school announcements a few minutes ago. Many of the schools can quickly switch over to video learning, just tell the students to be sure to take their computer home tonight and check google classroom for assignments that will be posted tomorrow.
I’ll get a mother ******* text at 5 AM from my kid’s school. Guaranteed. I keep my phone on silent, but the wife keeps hers on full bore for some reason. Better have the bottle of baby aspirin next to the bed when that damn thing goes off like it’s an Amber Alert.

I'm guessing if they count it a virtual, they don't have to use up a snow day? If that's the case, I just about guarantee we close. We have enough neighborhood kids I'm sure mine would just be out playing with them. It's the toddler I need in care!

Update: I have 75% of one tree de-lighted. Only......a dozen or so to go. The emails from the school seem to have spurred spouse into action. Now to find out if we can remove the lights it took 2 weekends + to put up in an afternoon. I suppose we could, if we just ripped down and threw in the garage instead of boxing away.

Most districts build in a couple of snow days into the schedule, so if they need to use them like tomorrow, they can just count one of those days and then go later on in the year when those days pop up on the schedule.
Remember all most all districts these days are counting hours of seat time, not days in the classroom, this switch gave them a lot of flexibility to work around snow days. Schools on 4-day school weeks might be stressed more, but many if they miss tomorrow will just go on Friday, if that is the day, they are taking off now.

yeah I know they have snow days built in - my question was whether if by switching to "virtual learning" do they then not have to count it as a snow day? Because last year we ended up adding time to the day by mid-February because they'd run out of snow days. Hitting that hour count that you allude to. Of course this is WI so our deal could be different than IA.

Unless the state gives them a break, then even days that they are using as a computer day would not count towards the hours needed to get in the minimum number of hours. So no, computer days are not allowed to be counted unless like in the past the state lowers the number of days, which they used to do, but its rare.

I don't miss those days. Cold as heck here this week but it's all very relative. Certainly won't be any shoveling going on.

Roads stay wet until after dark. Pavement temps are 34-37 right now. Will take a bit of snow to overcome taht. Darkness will help too. *Should* be okay for the evening commute unless we get some crazy people out.

Everything more or less still on track for heavy snow across the state... especially south.

Just spitting in Norwalk as of now. My prediction is that if they are predicting 9 inches in DM area and they cancel everything that it'll be less than an inch.
