Need that bat back. Great news.

Optioning Canario was the easy one. The tough one is going to be when Seiya gets back next week. It's probably PCA but you just hate to send that defense down but it's best for his growth as a hitter.

Maybe Mastrobuoni instead? He was only brought up when Mervis was struggling so bad we had to send him down.

But you hate to keep PCA up here if he's just going to sit on the bench most of the time.

Masterbuoni is the obvious move but you're right. Sitting PCA is counter productive. Trying to figure out how it could work playing Bellinger and Suzuki full time.

1B Busch 80% Bellinger 20%
CF PCA 60% Bellinger 40%]
RF Suzuki 60% Bellinger 40%
DH Tauchman 60% Suzuki 40%

Rest of roster
Amaya
Gomes
Hoerner
Swanson
Morel
Madrigal
Happ
Wisdom, he's going to get ABs as long as he stays hot.

The 'easy solution' is Bellinger in RF and and Happ/Suzuki splitting LF/DH but as long as Tauchman is playing like this, you have to keep that bat in the lineup. He's played this well this long that I'm starting to doubt that he's eventually going to turn into a pumpkin, some guys just find the right fit late.

Happ is a gold glover so that would essentially make Suzuki a full-time DH.

We should hire a Japanese coach (that speaks English). I think it could put us that much closer to the Dodgers when we're recruiting these guys. Obviously it would need to be a qualified candidate but why not add someone like a bullpen coach.

Man...Counsel just can't win. Stretch the best pitcher in baseball because you can't trust the bullpen, and he gives up a 2 run homer

Tries to keep the starter in longer based on how the bullpen has been sucking, and then boom. Two run dinger. Going to have to fix the pen at some point.

My bad, switched to the BR TV between innings. Waited till he threw the 7th. Never dreamed he'd send him back out.

Cubs need to score more than one run on eight hits, however. Two earned runs across eight innings should get it done in most games. Has Hottovy been interviewed recently? I'd be curious as to his take on what's been happening, since he's the guy who answers for the pitching staff.
