hey we are only 2-3 more offseasons of signing the 7th best player at each position group away from contention.

I’m sure you all would have crushed on your MLB the show franchise but, in the real world, the moves made (and not made) were perfectly fine for a team trying to compete in 2025
Problem with your thinking is the team in 2024 was trying to compete. In 4 years, the guy making the decisions has not put a competitive team on the field. His philosophy is "just be good enough to get in the playoffs," and he isn't even good enough to do that. He wants to build a team full of average players instead of building around 2-3 stars.I’m sure you all would have crushed on your MLB the show franchise but, in the real world, the moves made (and not made) were perfectly fine for a team trying to compete in 2025
I won't stick up for Jed, but this is wrong. It wouldn't take much for them to be Division winners next year.Which is based on complete delusion. We are a bottom 6 team in the league. It’s nonsense to pretend like we are a few pieces away.
I agree with this. But do you think Jed is the right guy to build that roster next year?I won't stick up for Jed, but this is wrong. It wouldn't take much for them to be Division winners next year.
No. I've been done with him for awhile. He complimented Theo well, but without Theo he's nothing.I agree with this. But do you think Jed is the right guy to build that roster next year?
Would be nice if Cubs added a righty power pitcher at the top of the rotation. Currently our 4 top guys all peak around 92mph.You can win it all win 3 aces. We need a righty at the top.
You wouldn't be shocked if the Cubs made the playoffs this year? No. I've been done with him for awhile. He complimented Theo well, but without Theo he's nothing.
That being said, I wouldn't be shocked if this team made the playoffs this year. They are just not built to win it all, and that's why Jed needs to go.
Patience. He's 22.PCA better figure out the bat in the off season because playing him full time again next year with a sub .200 bat is criminal.
Large reason why I preferred getting rid of Taillon -Would be nice if Cubs added a righty power pitcher at the top of the rotation. Currently our 4 top guys all peak around 92mph.
Would be nice to have a Burnes/Snell type starter who throws 95ish. Then hope Brown or Horton can eventually develop into another hard-thrower in rotation.
I believe the market will be better in the offseason for Taillon. Deadline is more about rentals. 2 years control at the winter meetings means something.Large reason why I preferred getting rid of Taillon -
1) saving that $18 MM next year, + not bringing back Neris or Smyly gives alone gives you enough to get an Ace. We just lost out on that opportunity.
2) I’d rather go true Ace, Steele, ?, Imanaga than Steele, Taillon, Imanaga.
I would argue we lack a guy I would be confident in being a lock in a one game playoff.
