Just had a hell of a thunderbolt here in Albert Lea.
That's not something you expect to hear when you are icefishing, on January 3rd!
Storm was a bust. Trace of snow, trace of ice.
Sounds like a lot of snow over in Sioux Falls.

Hail is coming your way unless it skims by at Alden.

This is far from over...

For us in the glorious northland it's just start ed to snow in the last hour. Seem we skipped the mix and any freezing rain so far as it's 24° but it's going to warm to 32° for the next day or so. NWS is still showing quite a range for the metro, 5" to 13" through tomorrow with half either falling or not falling today.

Youngest went with me and we scooped all the hail off the driveway. Still had a mini berg from packed snow when we were gone, I got that eliminated. So the driveway is now just icy.

Storm total since Monday afternoon:

TBH based on my measurements they were a bit low, 13 is what I measured and most recent ones in the area are around that level.

Mutliple measurements a bit north and west of Sioux Falls pushing 20 inches.

Cyclone buddy in Sioux Falls says they got clobbered. His new digs are outside the main city in the new hoods so he's like living in the country.

Maybe 5"-7" here in Twin Cities west, little hard to tell because it's pretty windy and looks less some spots and more in others. Thinking I should fire up the snow chucker and toss it before the #2 round of wetter **** happens this evening.

Is it ever going to get cold again in the metro? This weather sucks. If it’s going to be cold ish, be cold enough for things to stay frozen so I can go skating!
It’s worse up in NEIA.

We’ve had a ton of snow melt off but not enough that we can resume normal activities.

So we don’t have enough snow to ski, snow shoe, snowmobile, or fat bike and too much snow to ride bike or enjoy hiking. The 10 day forecast is 30 degrees with no snow, so we’re stuck in **** limbo.
