Funny that Jerriann on WHO at noon had about 3” of snow forecast for the Ames area. At 4 pm she had 7” forecast and Brett at 5 pm has 8” forecast now for Ames. At this rate by tomorrow morning we’ll be close to 5’ of snow!

They seem really nice but following WHO's weather forecasts has f*cked up my plans for smoking meats more than once... they say everything looks clear a day before then, when I'm planning to get the smoker going, storms and downpours.

Realizing that it's just one model and IIRC "Earl" always seems to be an outlier...

...doesn't that indicate a totally different storm track?

I’m with @Jeremy on this one. Where is the storm for Des Moines area?? Give me insanity but this won’t even probably get us so just another in a long line of disappointments.

Gonna get something it looks like. It’s like every snow storm. You get little like 25 mile radius pockets of higher totals and everywhere else is a consistent but lower total.

I don’t know why people can’t equate snow storms to thunderstorms when it comes to localization of rain/snow/wind or whatever totals. No one gets all bent out of shape when WHO13 says 2-3” of rain and Jeremy in Waukee ends up with 1.71” and John in Ames gets 2.69”.

But when WHO13 says 6-8” of snow for the metro and someone only gets 4.5” **** in Adel just ******* about how wrong the forecast was while ignoring that Terry in Colfax got 8.7”.
