***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Plus Horton is a top of the rotation guy, he just needs more seasoning. It's possible he's the guy they decide will replace Stroman in 2025.
Horton is moving through the system quickly but need to keep him on track with his development where when he is called up he goes right into the rotation. Probably gets a chance to start the year in AAA in 2024 and maybe a call up at some point if he shoes he's ready. Don't want to see them rush him up nor tinker with him as a reliever.

This year they have had to use Assad and Wesneski in relief at times out of necessity but got to decide going into 2024 which direction they want to go with them and stick to it. Palencia started this season as a stater then they sent him to Arizona for a but to convert him to a reliever and it's worked out well so far. They finally committed to Alzolay as a reliever after durability issues as a starter and he's thrived as the closer this year. It's beneficial to some of these guys in the system right now to commit to how to develop them going forward as not all pitchers can flex between starting or pitching out of relief and be effective at both.

Did my app just say Morel was caught stealing home?
Kind of weird situation from what I heard on the audio im listening to. I think Morel got caught in a run down and then whoever was behind him ran to get to third so he couldn't retreat back and was forced to run home. Not actually watching, but that's what I took from the radio feed I am half listening to at work.

Patrick Wisdom cannot play 1st base. What are we even doing here. If you want to get him into the lineup, DH him.

It's absolutely baffling that Ross keeps putting him out there at 1st in the middle of a division race.

Because Ross is a goof and his lineups are goofy.

Zero reason Wisdom should be playing first base and zero reason Happ should be batting third.

As I said last week, this is a good team, but we ****** around in April, May, and June, and now we’re ******* around against lefties.

Locked On had a stat that we had like 99 different starting lineups our first 107 games. Yet anyone with any common knowledge can tell you where holes will be for every ******* lineup we put out there against lefties

Ian Happ getting the extra at bats over Bellinger and Swanson is borderline criminal at this point.

Tauchman
Swanson
Bellinger
Candelario
Morel
Happ
Hoerner
Catcher
Madrigal

It's not that god damn hard.

Batting Morel at leadoff, just f-ing ridiculous....Hoerner trying for second, dumb, and of course, our biased homer announcers won't second guess his decision, just a great defensive play, which it really wasn't that special.

Ehh I really don’t have much of a problem with Hoerner going for it. He was thinking double out of the box and I would’ve thought it hit the wall at some point but it never did. And it still took a pretty good throw to get him. To lead off the inning? Probably a bad idea. With one or two outs and one of the least clutch hitters in baseball coming up behind you I didn’t think it was a dumb decision by any means.

Happ has GOT to move down in the order and Wisdom has zero business playing in the MLB, let alone on a team in a playoff race.

Ross is a total liability and has done literally nothing over the course of 4 years to prove he’s a competent manager. The front office is completely unserious about winning if they let him keep the lineup card.
