***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Stroman getting torched. Terrible 2 strikes pitches got him here.
Never understood the draw to the guy. Haven’t been able to watch as many games this year as I normally do, but it seems like the games I have been able to watch have been Stro missing his locations and getting hammered

NL participant in the World Series has won less then 95 games ever since 2017 when the Dodgers surpassed 100. If you get in you have a chance.

Lol, wut?

This team would be extremely fortunate to be 10 games over, let alone win 90 games. They don't have a star that can get hot and carry a team. They don't top of the line starters. You are throwing out hyperbole without having an honest assessment of the team or it's chances.

Someone please take Stroman. Dude has done everything in his power to hurt us in our push
I don't even think it'd be a drop off rest of year may get us a player and also may avoid us having to be on the hook for his player option if it doesn't get better. Trade him

On the plus side, you’re still at .500 even with a loss tonight. And there are still 6.5 innings to go in this one. But there is nothing positive about Stroman right now. Who is even interested in acquiring him? You are stuck with the guy.

Have you even been watching since the AS break?

Cody Bellinger has been the best player in the MLB in July

I know I’ll get flack for this but I’m fine with trading Stroman to the next team that inquires about him for a bucket of seeds. Guarantee that extra $21 million for next year for Ohtani.

I don't think he's intentionally sucking, but I absolutely would not be shocked if he was pissed the Cubs weren't offering an extension and he stopped whatever pitching program the Cubs had him on as an "F You."

His first 16 starts, he had 3 performances that had negatively impacted the Cubs win probability. He's had 6 of those performances his last 7.

And as I referenced yesterday, I think there's a reason Bellinger's name was the only one mentioned as being pulled off the block.

Agreed. If somebody wants to give you something for him, take it.

No one going to take him now. Giving up 30 ER in last 30 innings..Gotta hope he can correct it, not going to be able to be able to continually dig out from his deficits.

Dansby is fun to watch
I wasn’t very sold on the signing but one of my best friends that’s a huge Braves fan talked me into it. He’s just so damn smooth defensively and makes some very tough plays look extremely easy. Javy was flashier but was prone to some errors. Dansby has been pretty clutch at the plate too. Him and Bellinger turned into damn good signings

No question. Much like you I wasn’t sold, but only took me a couple of games before I was all in. As you say, smooth as smooth can be and rarely does the 1st baseman even need to move the glove to get the throw.

They're long contracts so it's worth noting they should be allowed to play out but here's your SS deals based on pay and current WAR

Trea Turner - 11 Years, $300 Million, $27 AAV, 1.1 WAR
Xander Bogaerts - 11 Years, $280 Million, $25.5 AAV, 2.5 WAR
Carlos Correa - 6 Years, $200 Million, $33.3 AAV, 1.0 WAR
Dansby Swanson -7 Years, $177 Million, $25.2 AAV, 3.4 WAR
