Great comeback W in the 9th off one of the best pitchers in baseball. Makes up for Monday a little bit

Nice team effort last night. After it took some spectacular plays to win it Tuesday, yesterday was about grinding it out.
  • Tauchman's at bat in the 9th was a thing of beauty. He looked overmatched, but was able to hang in and foul balls off before getting his 2 out double and knocking in the winning runs.
  • Rucker pitching 2 innning of scoreless relief was solid. Allowed Ross to conserve the bullpen for today.
  • Steele getting the 3rd out in the 6th was huge! I thought he was reeling and Ross should have pulled him, but Steele got out of the jam.
Hope Swanson didn't wrench his ankle badly, it seems like this team just can't get a consistent starting lineup because of injuries.

This is one area I give Ross some credit is he will let Steele try to get out of jams and not pull him too early. That is 1 thing that drove me nuts with Maddon was especially with Hendricks when he was younger he would pull him at the first sign of trouble instead of letting him try and work out of it while he'd leave some of the other less consistent/reliable veterans at the bottom of the rotation stay in a few batters too long. It's going to make Steele a better pitcher in the long run to have that kind of confidence that he isn't looking over his shoulder wondering if Ross is going to yank him if he gets into a jam. Obviously there is a point in some games you have to pull a guy but the games I've seen Steele when he's had some tight spots to maneuver through he's been able to get out of the inning and end his outing on a high note most times which has to be great for his confidence.

5th inning and you NL fans are probably seeing how bad the Yankees are this season. Relief pitching has been good and only reason they are still above .500.

Batting averages the last 30 games
  • Stanton: .171
  • LeMahieu: .170
  • Rizzo: .174
  • Torres: .206
  • Donaldson: .143

Other than Judge, only Volpe and Bader don't suck this season. I'm only watching to see Rodan since it's his first start. I'll probably turn it off after Rodan leaves. Cubs should take two out three (or sweep) even with Yanks missing the Cubs best starters.

Really curious to know who made the call to send Gomes in the PH? Rossey tossed in the 1st. Send in a righty for a righty v. a righty. Then PR the lefty who is the obvious and probably only available option as defensive replacement.

Probably DR from the tunnel. Regardless threw the book out the window and resulted in a 2 run game tying single.
