I don't have an answer other than a hot air balloonist I know complained to me that they have been unable to fly as much as they used to due to higher winds.
Thank you for not saying “heavy winds.” I keep hearing that from TV meteorologists and I think even the NWS, and it just drives me batty. Winds aren’t “heavy” in the sense of rain or snow falling heavily; winds can be high, or strong, or damaging … but “heavy”? To me it’s like saying “heavy fog” or “heavy lightning” or “heavy amounts of sunshine.”
