I can confirm we got snow in Ames.Up to 11" now in Pocahontas County. 7.8" so far in Badger, near Fort Dodge. Who's got my Ames update?
Thought NWS was at 2"-4" for Mpls today. Little short of 4" on the hill west of Theo Wirth.
Waiting till morning, it is just going to blow back in.
Didn’t seem light enough to blow much. But yes, this was only round 1. Round 2 starts in the morning.
Snowing pretty good in Grimes right now. Snow plow came down our street about an hour ago and left a pretty high pile at the end of the drive I never get the snow blower out till it stops snowing so hope they make a couple more passes before I do so I can knock it all out at once.
Everyone was questioning the snow totals when we didn't have much on the ground in the late afternoon but seems like the snow just came a little later than expected and we are still going to get close to the range predicted when it is done. I just hope it stops overnight to give crews enough time to clear it so we have a packed Hilton at 1pm!

The storm is stationary so central Iowa will get several more inches of snow as moderate to heavy snow will continue to fall
It’s going to be done by 2am. Plenty of time to get the roads cleared by Gametime.
Been snowing sideways for quite some time, getting some impressive drifting already. Totally speculating we had about 6" of wet, heavy stuff by dinnertime, and everything I cleared has filled in and drifted shut by now. If I went bigger I might not make it around the driveway curve and dump it in the pond.
The pic doesn't do it justice but the curve is pretty tight (I removed the tree that is circled to widen the corner) especially when you have a 34' Semi RV truck pulling a 30' trailer.
Yes - bass, blue gill, crappie and catfish plus turtles and lots of frogs. Anyone is welcome to come fish, just ask first.
I was going to shovel tonight, but I drank whiskey and got lazy so that's a problem for morning me.
Well, you know I’m going to say just widen the driveway.
Or buy an RV (I recommend a bago since they are from my area), teach the wife to drive it and then get a full tractor/trailer to hold two cars and then you can just leave home in March and return after race season. Have a mobile office in the Rv for tax work and you are set.
