Looks like a fight for bragging rights between Weather Underground and the NWS. Weather Underground is at 6.8" for the Altoona area vs 10.1" for the NWS. This is getting to be fun.
Weather underground dropped it that much? They were at like 9-10 last night

I love the people that try to downplay the storms with dry air talk. Can it happen? Sure. But at this point this close to it starting is kind of nonsense. Central iowa is going to get a good load of white stuff.
It happened 2 weeks ago. They were predicting high totals right up to the storm.

I always like weather underground the best. They are fast to update. In the spring, summer and fall months they are quicker to pull rain out of the forecast when it’s not going to happen.

They're fast on this one for sure. They are updating their forecast almost hourly. Interesting.

Snowing in Altoona area. 34 degrees so it's melting on the deck.

Is that additional snow or inclusive of this morning?

Snow has been decently coming down in the CR area since 11 AM (or earlier). Roads seemed to be fine (for now.)

Looks like it's total. We got maybe 1/2" this morning and it was melting so for here it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Yeah…in our neck of the woods (I’m close to Altoona), I’m starting to feel like something major needs to happen for this to be anything other than a dud. I realize a lot can happen between now and tomorrow morning, but…
