Looks like it has shifted a bit east, so Waukee’s totals should be less than expected. Looks like it should start back up around 1:00-2:00.
Totals in Ames area probably will be not much dry air dominating right now and it’s going east.
Central Iowa is still in the line of fire for this thing.
Weather Underground has dropped their total a bit to 6-7 inches for Ames & Des Moines.
I can never tell who truly knows what they're talking about vs. who's just watching radar and speculating, but WHO posted this awhile ago. Still seems like we're on track for a doozy.
WHO lowered Ames to 8.9 and DM to 10.1 since that tweet
This early stuff was never part of the big storm they've been talking about. That's still on the way.
I love the people that try to downplay the storms with dry air talk. Can it happen? Sure. But at this point this close to it starting is kind of nonsense. Central iowa is going to get a good load of white stuff.
Ya there’s a certain amount of snow where it doesn’t matter. 5” or 9” doesn’t really matter in terms of travel concerns/road conditions/etc.
i think the breaking point is that 1’ mark that turns it in to a storm that causes out of the ordinary concerns.
