Just made the trek from KC to Des Moines. Speed limit trip. Highways were in great shape. The wind was really blowing, but the snow was not. The first sign of blowing snow was really as we were getting into the DSM metro.

I’ve got family south of Buffalo and none are close enough to be affected by it but they said some areas close to Erie have mandatory evac orders because of the flooding.

Just rode home with a coworker that lives nearby up in the Cedar Valley area. I wasn’t even driving and that may have been the most stressed I’ve ever been in a vehicle. Roads weren’t terrible in most spots but between the wind and some snow patches, it was completely white out at times. I would’ve hated to see what this would’ve been if the storm wasn’t a dud though!

Kind of fun looking in on the roadside and snowplow cams in northcentral and NW Iowa from the comfortof my couch. The list of impassable roads and travel not advised has definitely grown.

Much appreciation for those who have to be out there. The rest of us should stay home.
