Be careful what you wish for. Not sure Gainey would really move the needle in the Big 12. Better options will be available in the portal.
No guys we got last class other than Brockington "moved the needle" neither and that worked out fine. This guy is super athletic and is a 2x Ivy League Defensive Player Of The Year. He is no slouch.

DePaul's roster is a who's who of "oh that guy" types --

Javon Freeman-Liberty is going to be one of the most sought-after transfers out there.

Tyon Grant-Foster was a Prohm target before he went to KU and flamed out there.

Javan Johnson was a Cyclone. Didn't go so well.

Jalen Terry was another Prohm target before committing to Oregon and flaming out in Eugene.

Gainey would absolutely be a take, especially if there are 4 spots open. A frontline of Gainey, King, and Kunc, with Jones providing spot minutes would be closer to the top of the Big 12 than the bottom.

Is Gainey a real 6'9? That was what Tre King was listed at when he transferred and now he's down to 6'7, which won't be a problem with how King plays but the height discrepancy is notable for any transfers listed here.

Gainey seems better than what we currently have. However, we also might have a better shot at someone better. So I won't be upset if he goes to someone else. I actually would want him more if we were able to secure some scoring options and he could be a rebound/defense type guy. Which would be fine.

Gainey played at Brown. People really need to factor in the level of competition. There are lots of guys that could fill a limited role like that. After TJ showing he can coach the team back to a winning record and the tournament they should be looking at better players than that.

His highlights against Duke impressed me.

6'9 with shoes and 6'7 without. We also list Conditt at 6'9 and there ain't no damn way.

Who’s to say Conditt wouldn’t be 2x Ivy League Defensive Player Of The Year if he played at Brown? Gainey’s numbers aren’t impressive for that lower level of competition.
