Way up there
I'm so confused on the transfer rules. How is a player like Umoja Gibson transferring. He transferred from North Texas and didn't have to sit out already. How is a player like De'Vion Harmon transferring. He transferred to Oregon already and didn't have to sit out. How is a player like Erik Stevenson for West Virginia transferring. He has transferred to Washington, and South Carolina already without having to sit out at both.
I assume they think they can get a waiver. For instance, Gibson played for Moser this year but he committed to Lon Kruger at OU. That's probably enough to get him one. They only people getting denied will have very specific things the NCAA can point to (Tre King enrolling in G'twon classes), if there is a gray area, you're getting approved.

I thought of king sat out last year he was eligible to start this season and if he didn’t then he would lose a year eligibility but could play at semester last year. I was wrong apparently but also think it’s dumb he has to sit out when all these other transfers get to play right away

I think there is a chance he is still eligible. There is a rumor that NCAA is going to issue another exception this year and let everyone be eligible right away.

This is probably not what Life Wallet was hoping for:

This is kind of what I envisioned when I didn't get too doom-and-gloom about these mega-teams. Eventually there's going to be disgruntled players and hurt feelings once players start comparing price tags. I imagine it's going to begin looking alot like the disgruntled stars of the NBA, only without binding contracts. I really think it's going to be hard to keep 12 guys on the payroll happy and it'll balance itself out.

The kicker here is this is happening in April. Imagine what this will look like come December when the dude making $500,000 is averaging 8 ppg, and the guy making $50,000 is averaging 19. Or when the guy who sees his teammate getting $500,000 thinks he could be making that too if the coach gave him more minutes. All I know is I wouldn't want to be the coach charged with keeping all this **** in check.

Exactly. Not only that but when is a kid going to become a ball hog and chuck up shots just so he can maintain around 15 points a game so his sponsors don't back off of him. Thus, causing good teams to not play well together. SHould be interesting

I think most of the time the NIL amounts will be kept quiet because quite frankly it's no ones business.

But in the case of Miami, this business guy needs his ego stroked so he brags about the amounts.

Quiet to us, but I'd imagine the other players on the team will know. Even if they don't know an exact amount, they'll be able to tell who is living larger than the others. It would be hard for Peck to hide the Porsche he's driving.

Well, Wong is not leaving out of principle. He’s not leaving for less money elsewhere. I’d say this fits in with doom and gloom for the low money programs- the market is already that robust. And it’s still growing.

The real kicker isn’t the guy making 50k averaging 12 points more than the 800k guy. That will work, as the 50k guy is allowed to play himself to more money.

It’s when the the 8 ppg guy wants the usage of the better 19 ppg teammate, so he can get paid more next year, with little regards to wins.

It really makes you wonder how Texas has had so much success at it all of these years.

I had asked a similar question about a month ago. The response I got from someone here was that maybe one of the guys I used as an example (he got approved to play right away, 2 transfers) was that he was a grad transfer.

I’m not going to look but I doubt all three that you mentioned are grad transfers. Head scratcher. Doesn't seem fair or right.
Then the NCAA is handing out waivers like candy
If they are handing them out like candy, give Tre a sucker. He's already had to sit out an entire year.

Be nice. And what the NCAA needs to do. In Tre's case of course. :)
