If it was Holmes, the other three are Ward, Williams, and _____ ? Is he counting Tre King in this group?
Possible though seems odd he'd include King who has been publicly signed enrolled and practiced with the team for 5 months. Sure JP has had weekly interactions with him for a while.

For reference.

wait a minute, there was even a published story in March about him offered a sizable NIL deal already to stay at MSt. Makes one wonder what a 'sizable' deal even means. Would think he could stay in the draft.

Missouri State's beat writer was confident that the deal was in the $150-200k range.

That's a massive amount of money at Missouri State.

Read some guru thinking bigEast for these two. These late ones are throwing more interesting scenarios out there...and we sill have two more days left for them to go to the portal. Thinking we would 'need' Lofton a pg, more than Holmes, but I get the Romulus connection etc. The other teammate, Welch, had 7-10 threes against Xavier in the NIT loss. Wowza.
We need Holmes more than Lofton.

Williams is basically Lofton in a longer frame imo.

We need either a pg that can shoot or a combo/off guard that can create.

I’d even put Welch above Lofton if just ranking their transfers in meeting our needs. An athletic 6’5” 3 and D wing that’s 37% on nearly 700 3P attempts and 10% rebounding % is arguably the best fit. I’d take both- a three guard lineup can handle 4 guards of 6’5”, 6’4”, 6’4”, and 6’5” with three being pg or combo capable.

I'm one of those posters, and I still think that. I'm not saying that there will never be players who transfer twice (after all, there were guys who transferred to sit out a year before), but I think it's a better bet that a player who are transferring to Iowa State won't transfer again than that a high school player won't transfer away from Iowa State.

But that's also contingent on the NCAA not giving out very many or any waivers for a second transfer. It's possible that second-time transfers right now still think that they can get a waiver easily, when that might not be the case.

Based on the number of kids that were in the portal last spring and are in the portal again this spring- it seems a lot of kids are expecting waivers making them eligible immediately.

Could he be referencing women's basketball transfer Stephanie Soares? Not aware if she visited over the last week.

Otherwise 4 transfers for TJ wood be big news!

Right, but this is the first offseason where we'll see if the waivers happen, correct? So they might expect waivers, but it might not work out that way. I think most of us were expecting a waiver for Tre King as well, but it sounds like that isn't likely.

If the NCAA allows players who transferred last spring and played this past season, to transfer again this cycle and be eligible this fall, there is no way Tre KIng won't be eligible. The NCAA might have made a ruling on King last fall- but time's may be changing.

Waivers existed before last spring, but the NCAA approval was so haphazard it resulted in last springs- everyone gets a one time/no waiver needed to be immediately eligible.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm so confused on the transfer rules. How is a player like Umoja Gibson transferring. He transferred from North Texas and didn't have to sit out already. How is a player like De'Vion Harmon transferring. He transferred to Oregon already and didn't have to sit out. How is a player like Erik Stevenson for West Virginia transferring. He has transferred to Washington, and South Carolina already without having to sit out at both.

Nothing stops a player from transferring every year if they want. You can only transfer once and be be immediately eligible the next year. Any transfer after that you need a waiver from the NCAA to play and if you don’t get one you have to sit out a year.

All the guys listed are supposedly eligible next year.
