Keep hoping the more it happens the more ours can somewhat fade from other peoples memories (outside of ours who can't forget it.)

I thought it'd fade after it finally happened again, which took 11 excruciating years, then it happened twice in one day (Norfolk State over Missouri, Lehigh over Duke). But it still gets mentioned. (Not quite as often, I've noticed).

Almost none of the ones prior to ISU-H***** are recalled with any frequency, not even the first one (Richmond over Syracuse).

Sadly ours has one of the most image carrying moments with one of their players lifting their coach up in the air.

Good thing the Big Ten locked up 50% of the top 8 seeds in a year where hardly anybody played each other out of conference.

Couldn't see that happening from a mile away.

Conference underachieves unless they get 4 in the Elite Eight (already impossible for that one) and 2 in the Final Four.

Iowa State wasn't the first one it happened to. It wasn't the last. It wasn't the highest profile program on the list.

If there wasn't that damn video of the Hampton coach getting picked up from behind by one his players, the whole episode would have faded into history by now.

And the national narrative that the big 10 is great and the PAC 12 is weak is being disproven so far.

One thing that gets lost is the more recent 15/2 upsets were more of the shock value if you take into account how the teams were operating at the time. Most I think were seemingly in good shape headed into the tournament.

ISU was pretty wobbly to close out the regular season in 00/01 and then looked like they were done by the Big 12 tournament.

I was still in NCAA denial for most of the rest of it afterwards though.

Yeah that 2001 upset wasn't too hard to predict looking back.

Ohio State had been good though.

Wasn't there one year where 2 15 seeds won? I want to say the year we had Royce.

Yep, 11-12.

Duke and Missouri.

Missouri had just won the SEC tourney.

The imagery helps that one stick, but what killed us was after our loss we went 11 whole years before it happened again. So until the 2012 upsets. that was the one fresh in everyone's minds, and the one they highlighted every year.

I had just read @CycloneRulzzz post about the coach-lift before I saw yours. Although I didn't forget about that, I agree that visual is likely why it hasn't gone away as quickly.

Compare that to the Lehigh over Duke game, which was an extremely anti-climactic as 15-over-2s go. I re-watched that a couple of years ago and the final minutes seem to take hours.

I usually change the channel just before the part where physics defies logic just before time runs out.

There's missed shots, then there's that.

If you've heard the story from Shirley, before that game Larry was saying things like I don't want to ****ing coach you guys anymore so in hindsight the result wasn't a shocker. That team at the end was a vehicle with a couple of tires missing.
