That is the point...it won't happen and should not happen. TJ has committed to the guys who are here and that is how it will and should stay. You "make room" and run someone off in July, what does that tell the other guys who you have been preaching culture to for the last three months? It would make TJ look like a phony.

Fred "ran" off Richard Armadi for DeAndre Kane in June 2013 after Richard had been committed to Iowa State for NINE months. I don't remember anyone at Fred's door with pitchforks. He wasn't worried about the team's "culture". Stop preaching "culture" and get the best you can when you can and if you are the coach worth your salt.......you make the "culture". I don't want to be in the middle of March reading threads about how chocked full of integrity these "culture" filled 15-17 seasons are. Read too much of that type of BS when GMAC was here.

You missed the memo that transfer rules have changed in 2021 especially as it relates to the 7/1 portal deadline for immediate eligibility the following season. These rules didn't exist in 2013.

Well then either way running someone isn't an issue. Because if some of these current transfers want to play right away....it's not an issue...too late. But if they are willing to sit.....there will be an opening.

Otz would get destroyed on Social Media, and by other Coaches recruiting players. In 2021 that would be hard to comeback from.

So you are justifying this by one event that happened 8 years ago? If you want your guys to believe in you as a coach, your word has to mean something. You have committed to these players for the year. Unless one of them chooses to leave on their own accord, this is our team.

I'm not justifying anything. And I hate to burst your bubble but TJ has already run a good player who stated he wanted to stay at ISU. Where is he now hmmm, let's see...........oh yeah.......GONZAGA! My point was the time of year it was done(June). So let's drop the pose of with TJ that now somehow we have the modern day version of "HOOSIERS" here at ISU. Because if a talent (Carr for example) would show interest and be willing to sit a year based upon current rules.....and TJ said "no, this is my team"......then "culture" has replaced winning as the pre-requisite and we're screwed! Just because Matt Campbell has been successful with coining that phrase doesn't mean it's on auto pilot for every program who uses it. Bill Self had one culture and so did Fred as do all great coaches. And it isn't......I love you son. Coaches at great programs run players all the time to get better talent. It isn't like TJ would be on an island or re-inventing the wheel. And having been under Fred during his successful time at ISU he should know.

Honestly, if you bring in a guy that's going to command 30+ minutes at one of the forward spots someone is going to look to make a move.
How do you bring him in and therefore s

As I stated originally, this won't happen. This is not the type of coach TJ is and not the program he is building. Culture does not replace winning, culture leads to winning.

Yeah, but when you can pay the kid directly, it makes sense to bypass the middleman.
Technically the kid can't get payed directly yet. He can somewhat in College but not as a recruit. That's still a violation.

You know, I haven’t read the NIL policy, so you may be right. However, I look forward to the NCAA trying to explain in court how they have determined that an amateur NCAA athlete can benefit from NIL, but a prospect who does so is no longer an amateur and thus ineligible. Good luck with that.

Any payment to a prospect is considered a recruiting inducement and those are illegal by the NCAA's interim NIL policy as well as various NIL state laws in effect.
