You think Jones is anything other than the worst transfer we've taken? He might fill a role in practice (which I don't think is a invaluable), but if he plays at all we're in trouble.

I think the coaching staff sees something in him beyond the numbers. I think he is a worker and a tone setter, and he also gives us insurance that will allow Conditt and Foster to go all out.

Hawkins would be our top transfer. Shot 46% and 45% from 3 over each of the last 2 seasons. We haven't had anyone shoot that well since Jake Sullivan. The last forward who came close was Dustin Hogue. We've had success with Juco transfers. You don’t hear as much about D2 transfers, but there have been a lot of great D2 players who played in the NBA starting with Pippen and Rodman.

After listening to the CW pod where he discussed what TJ told him about Jones, there is no way in hell they see him anything other than a practice body. They knew they'd have 4 open spots at the time and weren't picky. Jones had a Kyle Green and D1 Minnesota connection. It makes sense why we offered, but I would be shocked if Jones made any significant contributions here. Sorry you disagree.

If Foster or Conditt get injured or in foul trouble, we'll be glad to have him.

Tyrus McGee shot over 46% from 3. Who are some more recent D2 guys in the NBA? Not from 35 years ago.

Duncan Robinson transferred from D3 and then scored over 1,000 points in 3 seasons at Michigan.

I don't agree that Hawkins would be our top transfer but he has an elite skill that our roster currently lacks. He'd be a great get. Looking at who's interested is very telling...

Especially knowing that he's a big Iowa State fan AND that he would be bringing much better shooting than anyone else coming in or already on the roster, I'd like to see TJ pursue him.

Even if the line change and jump in competition made Hawkins drop 10%!!!!! off his 3 point percentage from the past two seasons, he'd be our best shooter right now from beyond the arc. Not to mention that the bits of his game that I've seen it looks like he can score from multiple levels and get to the rim a little bit too. I get we've brought in a few guys who play a similar position but I think he would be a very good use of the last scholly if we could get him.

I agree. And he might not be the last scholly for this year. Just saying. It's a long way 'till the fall.

JS shot @10% on the road. I have a hard time accepting we haven't had better. Maybe someone can educate us.

Yeah they still are finishing up school like ISU students are. I believe first week of June is when they’ll all be in Ames together. I could be a week off though.

Washington State is done May 7th.
Minnesota, Kansas, and UNLV are done the 2nd week in May.
University of Denver (Jones) is a little complicated because they must do quarters. The spring quarter doesn't end until June 8th but it's possible Jones did not partake in that quarter academically as it started after he announced his transfer.
