Are we going to do this again?
Guess ISU recruiting him a third time could be a charm... He obviously would bring shooting.

I am getting curious on how TJ will approach who he brings in. He took a long term approach at UNLV his first 2 years. He may be looking for long term pieces as opposed to play 1 year players looking at year 3 to really compete or get the most ready fill in players and get as many wins in year 1 to jump start the rebuild. Interesting spring coming.

If he recruits any one year guys it will probably be someone who comes in as a culture setter, more to set the tone for how ISU wants things to be as a leader, than major ability to turn things around year one. I bet he's looking for some roster fillers with multiple years to play who can balance the classes though for sure.

Speaking of Indian Hills, who was the player that Fred was (kinda recruiting) that ended up at Washington when Otz was assistant there? (I think I have that right?) Was just curious what type of career he had.

You haven't watched much of Chet Holmgren then have you? They'd make it work and have had no issues with a plethora of big bodies in the past.
I have watched plenty of Holmgren. Word is Kessler wants to be a stretch 5 and not an inside guy. Good luck with two 7+ footers who don’t want to post up lol.

Yep, that is correct. She is from Indianola.

ISU recruited him out of high school if memory serves.

Oh yes we were HARD after him. Even had a crystal ball prediction for the good guys before he committed to IU. Same for the gophers. Hopefully he wants to be closer to home, but not too close

He’d be a huge grab.

Unfortunately, Ben Johnson has probably recruited him once already, too. Would like to get him, me thinks.

He would be a great start - UNI was also involved so if Kyle Green does come on board there would be a connection there as well. He'd be a perfect wing/forward. Start him with Hinson and move Javan Johnson to the bench and that's a pretty good start at those positions. He's probably my number 1 want to this point in the portal.

We need a 3 and stretch 4 more than a big who can't shoot. However, I'm not saying no if he wants to be a Cyclone

Ouch. With Trayce presumably going pro the new IU coach is going to have their work cut out for them. Kind of surprised these guys didn't wait to see who Indiana hired.
I think Indiana will probably one of the last jobs to fill up. If players want to get out it probably is best to do it before spots start to fill at other schools instead of waiting to see who the new coach will be.

Have to assume Thompson is MN bound with the family connections and new hire up there.

That was my initial thought but as other had mentioned ISU was considered the favorite for a while with those ties under Hoiberg (Otz asst.) until Miller was hired and took Race early. AJ and Otz likely have a connection. Minnesota rebuild is the same if not in worse shape than ISU with a number of starters entering the portal.

can’t be that close, Race already passed on him once
Race's dad is Darrell Thompson, former Gopher running back and now football commentator for the Gophers. This transfer has all of the earmarks of Race returning home, in part to support the new coach and the U. Might be wrong, but I will be surprised if he ends up anywhere other than Minnesota.

I could see him going there. No doubt. Just saying they can’t be that close if he passed on Minny already when Johnson was an assistant
