I didn't understand all the love for Michigan going into this tourney. I never thought they looked all that great. Houston was the better team tonight clearly.
Of course, now that I say that, Michigan will probably get super hot now and make the Final Four.
I still couldn't believe how badly that game was officiated though. That Gray took a beating, with no fouls called. I loved the one foul called on Gray when the Michigan player fell over him and they called it on Gray. Amazing.

Re: My headline-guessing after Loyola buzzer-beater. After seeing the media narrative afterward, it should have been: Second to Nun.
I didn't turn it over until about 3 or 4 minutes left but the only reason Houston got the lead late was on touch fouls.
Not defending Michigan because I don' know what happened before that but at least in at the end they called 2 horrible fouls on Michigan.
It's a non issue anyways if Houston could make free throws. They only have themselves to blame for that loss.
I picked U-M to final four. I've seen enough of Michigan's games to make that leap, fully realizing it wasn't (and still isn't) a safe guess. They looked awwwwwful in first 2 rounds, Michigan hasn't look that disjointed since November/December.
Probably because they had almost 2 weeks off due to the Big 10s ridiculous idea to play at MSG.
Ok yeah, I forgot about that fiasco. But did follow that by killing super-pretender Nebraska, then dispensing w/ MSU and Purdue.
So maybe the pattern is established: Ability to win ugly (sometimes get lucky) and can beat high-profile opponents. And now they're in Sweet 16, we'll see if that combination continues to work.
Yeah and when Wes Eikmeier was playing well at Colorado State, people said the same thing. We know he wasn’t a B12 caliber player.
So whose minutes would have been decreased until this year? Monte, Naz, Matt, Donovan? No thanks.
Now, would Clayton have been able to contribute this year, as a senior at ISU? Sure. But I like our chances thru a B12 grinder of a season more with Donovan, Lindell, NWB.
Clayton had a good year and by all accounts is a good kid. He saw he writing on the wall at ISU. He knew minutes were going to be extremely tough to get.
If Custer was willing to sit for 3 years before every being a contributor then yea, he'd have helped. He wasn't willing to do that, so I guess if you are bummed he's not here, take it up with him or the guy who was coach when he left. Turns out he made a great decision, I'm thrilled to see him having this kind of success.

So was Eikmeir the POY in the MWC? We won 4 games, so you think we would have won 2 instead with Custer?
I'm not saying he would have lead us to the tourney this year but he would have contributed significant minutes.
3 straight turnovers by Purdue, they're trying to give this one away in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Really sloppy play by Purdue the past few minutes. Turnovers and shot clock issues. They just got bailed out by that 3 though.
