MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

I guess I don't remember any rain outs earlier in the year where they called the game before anybody had to come to the ballpark and start prepping.

Go to work 30 days in a row without a single day off and see how sharp you are by the end.

Apparently I am just understating the rigors that goes into going to the ball field, getting dressed, reading up on opposing pitchers, stretching out, and maybe hitting a few dozen balls before the game starts.

I understand that mentally it could become a drain. However, this team his been wildly inconsistent all year and "rest" seems to have been their go-too excuse for most of it.

I think the biggest issue is we just came off an 11-game road trip, and in two weeks time will travel from Chicago to Atlanta to Philly to Milwaukee to DC to Chicago to DC to Chicago.

However, 10 of our last 16 games are at Wrigley, 13 of our last 16 games are in Chicago, and the last 11 nights of the season, they will be able to sleep in their own beds. Hopefully that pays off!

Additionally, if we make the playoffs and have Games 1 and 2 in Chicago, you're looking at 15 straight nights these guys get to sleep in their own beds. So while we are going through a really rough stretch right now, it most definitely evens out on the back end.

Also... Joe really screwed that up. Should have PH Zobrist for Caratini.

just came to post same thing. What a bonehead move. As it turns out, Zobrist struck out too, but I'm sure he would approach the at bat differently with one out.

two months of crap offense is starting to wear on me

And he took Bote out and he put Gore in LF (eliminates late inning SB).

I’ve seen some bad Joe moments, but that last inning was the worst.

Went to the box score to see who gave up the tying run assuming it was Edwards or Kintzler and I wasn’t disappointed.

It’s like Joe wants to lose to make a point about the schedule. Just a comedy of errors on his end.
