I'd love to get any of Brown, Thorpe, or Wilson.

Burton was our highest usage guy at 28%. Brown was at 32 and Thorpe 28. Of course, with losing 90% of our usage maybe that's a good thing. I didn't realize he's the son of Mike Brown.

If they can get Thorpe or Wilson as a backup that would be a good addition. But I think their first priority seems to be the JUCO guard. And then it seems they want Juiston and a grad transfer big and I would guess a sit out transfer.

Kane didn't come to ISU with a clean slate. Maybe a change of scenery to Focustown is exactly what he needs.

Very true. Different coaching staffs though. Prohm has suspended more players for disciplinary reasons in his 2 years here than Fred did in his 5.

The issue with Brown is he will probably be one of the most sought after grad transfer this summer. I think ISU could offer him good playing time and he could get buckets, but he may want to go to a program that has a higher chance of going deep in the tourney. This isn't a big slight to ISU but depending on how things turn out we may be 6-10 seed in the dance next year so I could see him trying to go after bigger fish.

I don't know what he holds as his top priorities. The dance might not matter that much to him and he just wants PT. This isn't 5 years ago when ISU was the top dog on the transfer market. Everyone else jumped on board once they saw Fred turn around ISU using it. Sadly the blue bloods and top national basketball programs now use it so it can be hard to battle out for the top transfers.
If he's as good as we think and we land Juiston we're a very good team imo.

We weren't ever the top dog in the transfer market. We thrived on discounted goods and unique situations.

A lot of the transfers will go to a program that the staff had recruited them out of HS or a coach on staff that they know. A major reason Hoiberg success with early transfers was Otz's Milwaukee connection. The staff has only been recruiting top level prep players to ISU for 2 years, and I am not sure how many of these potential players have that relationship. Those relationships are something that will improve going forward with time.
ISU is still associated with a program Transfers have success at. Holden, Bowie, and Kasongo had multiple P5 school offers and chose ISU. There is still potential to get some top guys with the playing time and ISU profile.

I believe that Princeton's Caruso is planning on Santa Clara. As a 6'4" forward, I wondered how his game would translate to a power conference. There aren't rim protectors in the Ivy League.
Isn't Caruso a 6'9" forward that can shoot 3Ps?

Haha, Wilson and Thorpe will be at starting P5s. We offer as easy of a path to starting minutes as any decent team

He is but Ivy Leage talent is not very good. Had a friend who played Ivy Leage ball and played high major schools in the non con and he always told me the talent disparity was night and day.

Take Leland King at Nevada for example. ISU looked at him when he left Brown. Averaged 11.5 ppg and 6 rpg there. At Nevada now and putting up 3.7 and 2.6.

There's definitely talent in the low major schools but for them to make the jump to a high major they need to be putting up crazy numbers for it to translate to being a serviceable player at their new school.

Is that based on real facts, or just conjecture?

By my count Prohm suspended Carter for 3 games. McKay for 2 and Bowie and Cooke for 1 each.

Doing some research Fred suspended more players than I remember. Thomas. Nader. BDJ. Godfrey. Babb. Palo. Lamb

My mistake.

This guy knows his stuff

He's definitely a position of need for next season. Partner him with a scoring guard from the JUCO or grad transfer ranks, and we have a solid chance at getting back to the NCAA's for a 7th straight season.

The kid seems like someone you would want on your team. Seems to work his butt off and does a little bit of everything.

True, but 6'9" 240 shooting 3Ps transfers most everywhere. In terms of spacing those are the type of guys that have an impact past their numbers. Caruso also had good numbers against the bigger teams on the schedule

Caruso is the 6'4 guy. Brase is the 6'9" guy. After seeing how Ivy league guys have adjusted to bigger schools in recent years, I doubt either is an option for ISU. I suppose the could be like this guy who adjusted pretty well. Not Ivy, but similar level of competition.

Did Kane put up "crazy numbers" at Marshall? I think he did ok jumping up to the Big 12 level.
