They are a good example of why your coach and GM should be two different people. The Jared Dudley trade was terrible, they just gave him away. Hawes seemed like a good signing at the time that just didn't work out. Trading for his son to stop Boston from sending him to the D-League is hilarious unless you're a Clippers fan.

It's been a mixed bag giving Doc Rivers that much sway. He's made some ghastly personnel decisions, but he was also a stabilizing force for the franchise when they had to wade through that Donald Sterling mess last year.

Duncan has had way more to work with than Kobe. Duncan never had to deal with the likes of Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Vladimir Radmonovic, and Chris Mihm. If Kobe had the same coach, especially one like Pop his entire career, he would have even more rings. Also Kobe is more of a leader and more clutch than Duncan.
