I disagree. The odds of all three of them leaving at once is unlikely as well. They still have other pieces that are in place to make a good team and most importantly they all have experience in postseason play. This isn't Cleveland losing LeBron. This isn't Los Angeles losing Chris Paul. If the three old men from San Antonio have enough in them to take the Clippers to seven and still put up numbers like that then one would also think they can return next year and still play pretty well.

Biggest question long term for the franchise is how much of the Spurs management stays in place and if they can keep their magic going in personnel evaluation and development. Pop is getting older and he's the biggest piece of it, but the organization itself is the best small market pro sports team in the country. STL Cardinals are the only one I can think of that may come close.

I could see GS lifting the banner...but I've also been a fan who recently saw his young talented team have the #1 overall playoff seed and come up short.

I think the Clippers may have paid their proverbial "dues" now, the depth issue is real and getting SA in round one was a horrible draw because of that.

I still have more faith that LeBron-and-whatever's-left, Chicago, or LAC emerge as I do that GS or Atlanta storm the gates and go all the way. I view Houston as a long shot still, knowing the personalities on the team, I've yet to see a similar scenario where they are champions.

GS has a much better shot than ATL/Houston who I'm doubting. They remind me most of Phoenix's best teams with Nash where they could score on anyone at will even in the playoffs. Of course one of those teams may have been champion if not for Horry/Stern combining for one of the oddest situations in league history.

People shouldn't sleep on LeBron/Irving even without Love. This time next year I'd probably favor them for a title regardless of who else they add just by being a year more familiar with each other.

I would be hesitant to call Kawhi a role player. He is 23 years old with a finals MVP and a Defensive PoY award already. He just had a few poor offensive showings the last few games of the series.

Golden St may be able to score like those Suns teams, but they defend at a level that Phoenix never got close to approaching. Golden St was the best defensive team in the league this year. They won 67 games in a historically tough Western Conference, they had a 10+ ppg scoring margin on the year, the only teams that have done that in the last 25 years are the two great Bulls teams after Jordan's baseball sabbatical and the Celtics in the first year of the big three.

This is pretty much what I was talking about, if it was the Spurs team that had those numbers, people would be handing them the title at this point. I'm guilty of it too, in that I have a hard time seeing them as that dominant but the fact is teams that put up regular season numbers like they do, win titles.

If a team is going to breakthrough for a title quickly this seems like a great year to do it. The Spurs just got slugged out in a war, LeBron is in transition phase, then there's quite a step down in terms of considering anybody else a goliath-like force.

Still even if they do it, it's more common that a team like GS loses this year then comes back in a year or two and gets a title or two. The Mavs path to one title is more common than if they'd have won that first finals they made. Juggernaut dynasties are more common anyway, we just may be in a between phase.

Not sure why that series started today. Bulls were done Thurs. no need for a third days rest. Atlanta clinches on Friday and they have to play on Sunday, doesn't make any sense.
 
Less than a half hour till the matchup I have been anticipating all season. Everything i'm reading has the Cavs still taking the series, and that's fine. I love the role of underdog and hope this team proves all the doubters wrong.

Something just isn't the same this time...I think it's that Cleveland didn't have a premature championship rally and I can sympathize with a key player going out.

The Bulls probably do have the most room to improve of any team in the playoffs given the talented and experience roster that finally gets to play together. They seem to lack motivation and desire at times against Milwaukee, if they can't get excited about this one something is really off. You know Noah will have their full attention after pu$$y-gate.

Playoff schedules stopped making sense sometime about a decade ago. It's all really obscure hypotheticals about tv ratings matchups now, it's hard to even understand. You'd think they'd want LeBron fans/Chicago fans having a Sunday game but I guess not.

I think TNT people wanted this game. Of the second round matchups this is the best IMHO.

Are we talking in comparison to Bulls fans? Because lets not act like they are all that much better, we're just later in the game. Jordan created the largest bandwagon maybe in sports history.
