O-Line....Good or Bad ?

How did we go from the O-Line having a GOOD year (only 9 sacks allowed, as was stated many times), to a BAD offensive line in one game ?

Which is it ? And how will we fix it ? Other teams seem to have good offensive lines, why can't we ?

I believe remsburg being out was a huge factor. Ramos looked out of it.

Also, Oklahoma a a very, very good defensive line (one lineman in particular gave us fits).

I think they are pretty good not great. I also agree that I think injuries kind of caught up on Saturday.

OU has some dogs on the d-line. Thomas has beaten down double teams and Perkins was constantly in the back field.

They had a bad day. OUs DL is very talented and athletic, added a freak of all freaks once Perkins came back, and I think we need to give credit to Grinch for not only the improvement, but a good game plan to get pressure with 3 and 4. They threw a ton of stunts and use of spy on Purdy at our offense.

Agree. OL has been much improved compared to what we have been used to, but maybe a tad overrated this season due to a great RB and a mobile QB making them look good. Oklahoma's DL was very disruptive and has some talented guys. Remsburg going out didn't help. Playing a team a 2nd time also can be tougher from an execution standpoint.

Slings can be precautionary. It's the casts that are more telling.

Thank goodness the other 8 teams don't have good defensive lines. What would we do then ?

AND that our running backs can turn 4-yard losses into 2-yard gains......like David Montgomery did to that team east of us a few years ago.

I think as a unit, one of the best OL we’ve had in years. Fit and form, clearly better. But this unit needs a full year of Dave Andrews to go to another level, the OU game showed they just got pushed way too much.

Ramos did not look good on Saturday. Not sure if his injury is still nagging a bit, or if he's just not 100 percent back in game shape yet.

Newell was also getting beat a lot, which was disappointing to see.

I wouldn't even say this. I was consistently pleasantly surprised at their performance. I thought they punched above their weight all season and just ran into an OU D-line that was that damn good. Once we get the O-line squared away, which could be next season, we're gonna have a special season.*

*Yes I do mean a winnable rematch.

Against good d-lines (like OU's), not so much - much more hit and miss. With Remsberg out, much more pressure (and downs) on Foster and Ramos. The scale tips pretty fast.

All that said, good is a marked improvement over the past few years. And what, 4 starters coming back? Simmons and Remsberg are only RFr!! They will only get better. Downing will be back too. Only lose Foster afaik. They should be improved next year, probably one of the better groups in the conference.

Nailed it. As a group, the returnees were thrown in sooner than normal and performed very well all season. Gotta give Foster some love for sticking it out and being solid his senior year. Ramos and Downing are studs and will be full strength next year, Ramos probably should not have been used, he was not up to full speed. Simmons has been a big solid contributor which was not expected. Did Hudson get on the field? What is the injury status of the line post game?
