Northern Lights

So is the thought that this CME arrived too early to be spectacular tonight? I'm not sure what this means...

Seems like the final CME finally arrived but wasn’t as strong as anticipated, dulling the chances for a repeat of last night’s display.

There was a time in the late 90's I remember seeing them in Ames. It looked like green waves in the sky more so than the sheets of red people were seeing last night.
I had that happen around 2010. I was working ground just south of the IA Mn border and saw purple and green haze, streaks and even flares going off. Went with the curvature of the earth more also.

There's been a little bit of an uptick in tonight's intensity since about 8:30 or so. But clouds are really starting to become our enemy now.

As others have mentioned, it's not near as intense tonight either. Could still flare.
