Schedule looks better than last year. Could get solid wins over Iowa, BYU. Cincinnati, and UNLV.

Unless all the "empty" slots are throwaways, the non-conference SOS is likely to improve.

Wasn't there a Big 12-SEC challenge in the works? Or did I dream that? (Even if it's a reality, maybe that isn't happening this season).

If Yale is in that slot, then based on OP's game dates, that's 14 non-league games. So, add that to 18-game Big 12, is 32. Isn't 31 total regular season games still the max?

Could that mean non-D1 foe?

My guess is the Iowa game will move up to Dec 4/5 or maybe the Friday after X-mas?

I think we should schedule Missouri and maybe Nebraska and Colorado on a home and home rotation. Or the Missouri game could be played annually in KC on a weekend. Would be good for ISU fans in KC. Also, would not mind sticking a thumb in the Jayhawks eye and I know Mizzou would like that. I'm going to miss those thugs.

Honestly, I mentioned Mizzou yesterday, but I don't think a single Big 12 team should even come close to playing them in anything for the foreseeable future.

wisconsin released their schedule yesterday and i'd love to see us get to that level in the future. we're actually pretty close already. they have:

rival game: marquette (iowa)
home-home: florida (michigan)
home-home: california (BYU)
tourney: creighton/az st/ark (cinci/oregon/UNLV)
conf challenge: UVA (??)
in-state game: uw-milwaukee (drake)

so basically, we just need a conf challenge game to help us out. i don't know if we'll ever be able to attract a top level BCS school to play in hilton home-home. Mich and UVA are pretty good "gets" too bad UVA backed out.

The Iowa the past 3 years have been on Fri Dec 9 Fri Dec 10 and Fri Dec 11. So all signs point to the 7th.

Yeah, however I recall the Pierre Pierce/John Neal game being in mid-January, so exceptions have been made.

Last year all the teams in our conference played 12 or 13 non conference games. So we either have 2 or 3 games still to fill.

We have 8 out of 13 games filled so far.

So the schedule will look something like this:

Nov 3-Exhibitition
Nov 10-Empty
Nov 13-Empty
Nov 18-Campbell-home
Nov 20-North Carolina A&T-home
Nov 23-Cincy-@ Vegas
Nov 24-UNLV/Oregon-@ Vegas
Dec 1-BYU-home
Dec 4-Empty
Dec 7-@ Iowa
Dec 9-Nebraska-Omaha-home
Dec 15-Drake-@ WF Arena
Dec 19-@ UMKC
Jan 1-Yale-home

*Bold means for sure opponent and/or for sure date.

If we for sure play on Dec 1st and 9th, there is no way we have 2 games in between those dates. My guess is there will be a game on Dec 28th or 29th. Looking back at the last 10 years, the Iowa/ISU game in Iowa City has always been on a weekend, so there's another factor potentially. However, I cant se us playing 3 games in a row away from Hilton, so my money is the Iowa Game will be on Dec 5.

We have 10 teams now not 12 therefore we start conference play sooner. We have a game on the Dec 1st against BYU so the game wont be on Nov 30th. Then we have a game against Drake on the 15th so we aren't going to have the game on the Friday of finals week. We have the whole week of Dec 3-9 open. My guess is we will for sure schedule Iowa on the 7th and possibly a game on Tuesday the 4th.

Since 2000-2001, it's been that weekend every time but 2003-2005 on January 12th.

nallen's got it in the right spot. Every season but the one exception, the Iowa game has been in that spot. That's pretty much locked into a routine now.

However, the last time the game was played on a weekday (not including Friday) in Iowa City was in 1984. I dont think the Hawks want this game played during the week.
