Niang shuffle

Good god, his ability to create offense from outside is what makes him the hardest matchup in college basketball.

Do you really think teams couldn't figure out how to slow him down if he only played from 3 feet in?

Think before you post.
I didn't mean when he posts up down low because that is pretty rare. If you watch close, if he gets the ball just inside the 3 point line (especially on the perimeter), he usually has much better success driving than he does if he starts outside the 3 point line. His dribbling is a little sloppy at times when he starts from outside the 3 line at the top of the key. There are certain areas of the floor where Georges gets the ball and he is pretty much unstoppable.

Why you aren't coaching this team is beyond me.

No kidding, right? ;) I'll even give my alma mater a HUGE discount. I'd do it for 200k a year and wouldn't require a buyout when I (predictably) get fired.

My only condition is that I will wear something comfortable during a game. You know, Coach Eu style.

If someone needed an explanation they probably wouldn't understand or agree with it anyway.

I've noticed this for quite a long time, but it is only in the past two games that Georges Niang has been consistently called for shuffling his feet. In fact, I really am surprised that he is not called for this more often. With all the calls that he received during the TCU and Kansas games, they still missed some.

I hope he cleans this up before the tournaments start.

Anyhow, glad for the wins in both of these games (tonight vs Kansas especially).

The moving of the feet is also something I have noticed. Think it's a problem if the referees start to enforce something mid-season. If they were to make this a point of emphasis, do it from the start. Hard for a player to change what he habitually does. Think that there is even more traveling (in general) by players that are setting their feet for 3pt field goal attempts.
Re GN though, hope this is not something he has to start thinking about.

He has a tendency to start moving before he takes his first dribble. He's gotten away with it a lot. It's just weird that it's only been getting called the past two games. I'm sure he will work on it and be fine.

Actually, teams do seem to struggle to know what to do with him when he gets the ball close to the basket.

I realize this. Everyone does. He's great in the post.

However, part of that is because you can't guard him with a 5 because of his perimeter game. Why would you want to make him one dimensional?

If Cam Newton wasn't allowed to run, do you think he would look as effective in the pass game?

With that said, I'm sure you guys are better at figuring out how to create mismatches with Georges than Fred and Prohm are.

He has always done this.... It's really bad when he is ready to drive from outside the lane.... my wife and I refer to it as his wind up. It looks kind of cartoonish.

That just looked like Hawkeye Nation thinking they can beat us again. they are really ticked off about that game.

Niang will have to work to clean this up if this continues to be a point of emphasis for the refs. He's got a "reputation" now, so they will watch him more closely.

And yes, others do the same thing, and don't get called, and it will be maddening for ISU fans...

Its a **** call. Could call stuff like that on everyone. Im of the mind set of if its close let it go. If the ball is an inch away from the floor as he steps so what. Let the game be played.

Some are and some aren't. That goes for others, as well but Georges travels a lot.
