I think vs WVU would be the best. All Cardinal vs all blue?

I think you would want more contrast than two dark colors. It could work against WVU but only if one team wore gold. Could be an interesting thing to start with them - road team in that series wears all golds against the home team's cardinal/blue (or vice versa).

These are pretty sharp as well. Would prefer authentic gold over yellow but still.

You might have something here. I agree a real gold would be better, then gold pants would look good too. The helmet is great.

For the love of God can we please lose our current shoulder stripes? Lose those, do a little something different there and then add a stripe to the helmet. That could go a long way towards not looking like USC.
Why do people keep saying the shoulder stripes are the same as USC? They are clearly not. It is called a UCLA stripe and is the same as UCLA, LSU, and Ole Miss.

Keep in mind, we are (atleast I am) talking about 'general' design, colors, logos, for any potential new uniform. This particular helmet, above (the ISU one) was chosen by me to highlight the new, updated 'swirl' logo only (notice the two-tone color quality of it, which is new). I do not necessarily endorse this helmet, on the whole, as a new design. Just look at the 'swirl' logo only, which I DO whole heartily endorse, and imagine it being used elsewhere. Forget the rest of the helmet for now.

To help understand this, here is a quote from amestoplease, the designer (as far as I know) of this new, updated, and as of of yet, still unofficial 'swirl' logo (hopefully that will change, and we can adopt this new 'swirl'):

There you go! t-noah

YES!!! I really like this re-designed swirl logo with the two-tones. I'd love to see it as a new secondary mark with the I-State logo being kept as primary.

THIS.

Gold helmet and Trice stripes for the win!

Yeah, I like this a lot but I would like to see it without a black background since there will never be a time a player will be in the dark like this. Gives an unrealistic impression.

I'd really like to do away with the yellow/gold pants. Let herky have em. I love the way a helmet "pops" more when the jersey and pants match.

It is okay- when a helmet and pants match and offset a jersey of a different color..... there is nothing better looking in football (except for the play on the field) I vote to match the helmets and pants in gold. (if it is yellow, I get to agree with this sentiment expressed above)

What do you mean- like the 49ers? (Boo.)

If we do "real" gold it should be the "metallic chrome." When teams do this they often match the pants and jersey:

I agree, always liked the monochromatic jersey/pants and a helmet that accents

This is a question just because I'm ignorant and curious. For teams that declare "gold" as one of their colors (us and Iowa as far as I know) is that generally considered the yellow color that we have? As a follow-up, what color do Notre Dame, Navy, Pitt, etc. say that they use? Is it "old gold" or do they claim it to be "gold" as well.
