New Cooler

Recent camping trip made me realize I need to upgrade my main cooler. Looking for something in the 50-60 quart range.

Planned on biting the bullet and investing in a Yeti to be done with it. But decided to take another look at Grizzly and RTIC. Both seem to be holding their own in quite a few reviews I’ve seen.

Will probably steer clear of the new Colman, Igloo, and Ozark Trail ones, reviews seem to be all over the place.

Anyone with a RTIC or Grizzly have any anecdotal input on theses? Any regret you didn’t go Yeti? TIA

I have a Pelican and its amazing. Just remember with a giant expensive cooler how thick the walls of it are.

Good call, I hadn’t even looked at Pelican. I’ve used the Yeti 45 a couple of times and felt bumping up to 52-60 area would be perfect.

I have a few RTIC products and have zero regrets. With the $ you save, its definitely worth it.

I have Cabelas, Yeti, and Big Frig. I don't think there's much if any difference in performance between the three.
Big Frig is local and have great customer service. When we do promotional giveaways its always Big Frig. Probably not what you're looking for but the cattle coolers are great for vaccine.

Wet a (clean) sock, put a beer in it, and hang it up in the wind.

I tried this in June and it worked like a charm.

This also comes in handy if some ahole gets in front of you and blocks your view of the game.

I have a K2, a Mammoth, and an Ozark Trail (WalMart) for "super-insulated" types. Dollar for dollar you can't beat the Ozark Trail IMHO. I'd steer clear of Yeti. I used these guys when selecting mine: https://www.youtube.com/c/CoolersOnSale/videos

I used to own a yeti and a grizzly. Sold the yeti mainly because I didn't need both. Grizzly coolers are made in Decorah, IA too. Always nice to keep money as local as possible. Never have I had to keep things cold for more than a few days though so I am no help there. But from what I have read they are comparable in this reguard.

had a yeti that was given to me as a gift...what an overhyped, clunky piece of ****. Anything has to be better and cheaper. Guys here like them as they are a redneck status symbol (Oregon)...lol

Thanks for the input everyone. Basically, found out Yeti isn’t worth it and there’s about 8 more companies making them I need to take a look at.

I might be more lost than when I started but will probably at least be saving a few hundred on something other than Yeti.

Go for budget and the Coleman Extreme. Unless you are going off the grid type camping something like an RTIC, Yeti, etc. is unnecessary and mainly a status symbol.

I got this 55 quart Lifetime cooler at walmart for $100 and have been really happy with it. If you are not opening more than 3 times a days for the food, the ice will last 4+ days. If its a beer cooler, get something cheaper since you open it too much
