From Dresser’s newest email :

The landscape of college wrestling has changed so much since 2017 that my job doesn't even resemble what it was when I came to Iowa State. The last two years especially have changed the playing field like you can't even imagine. The advent of the transfer portal and most recently the explosion of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), puts every D1 coach in uncharted waters.

I have never been this busy in the month of April. People ask me if I like the portal and all that is going on with NIL and athletes getting paid, and my response is that there are good things and bad things with both. But it doesn't matter because it is the reality. We must embrace it and pivot to cover this new territory.

Along these lines, I want everyone to be on the lookout for a brand-new collective that is being established to help our athletes with Name, Image and Likeness opportunities. The Right Now Collective will give athletes a chance to make some money with their Name, Image and Likeness! The Collective will be hosting an inaugural golf event in the Okoboji area in early June and many of our athletes and staff will be in attendance. The Right Now Collective is set up as a 501(c)(3) and all contributions will provide the maximum deduction allowable.

It is kind of cool to know that as a donor, you know your dollars can go directly into an athlete's pocket. It also is very important to note that all NIL money earned by each individual must involve some service in return. Tasks can range from live appearances by athletes at your event to mentions of your company on athletes' social media. So again, be on the lookout for the launching of the Right Now Collective! It will be a game changer for a lot of ISU student athletes.

I read this too but am confused. I thought the CRTC was our collective. Is this only for wrestling? Will CRTC go back to Olympic training only? Can anybody shed some light on this?

Or is Right Now in the spirit of the original NIL concept? Appearances, promotion, etc. while CRTC is more for wrestler acquisition & retention?

My understanding is that the coaches have to be not involved with the money for nil, thus the new collective and the crtc will continue to pay for post graduate and guys traveling expenses.

All I know is dressers in favor of it, so I’m good with it

Would Dresser prefer donations to the Right Now Collective or CRTC? I know the answer is both, but for us tight on money I want to know which will benefit the college team more
This is the question.

Because the wrestlers don't want to be at the bottom of the food chain maybe?
I get it and have no problem with it just curious. WeWill let's you direct funds to a specific program, like if you only want your donation going to football or MBB and not women's basketball. It just seems like the potential not to fully tap into the potential and painting yourselves into the corner. Maybe @brentblum can shed some light on it?

CRTC has been doing what WeWill is trying to accomplish. I can guarantee wrestling would receive much less if it went through the WeWill verse it’s own established donations.

Right now WeWill is focusing on Football, MBB &WBB. All other sports are on their own. If collections were plentiful they may expand to other sports but those three will be the priority.
