NCAA Tournament likely to expand

It will be 3 games at both venues on both TUES & WED (12 games total)

I agree that Vegas is the likely 2nd venue.

And any talk by others about financial benefit for the NCAA is nonsense. They will be lucky to get enough money from CBS/Turner to cover the millions in additional operating expenses for the 2nd First Four venue and costs to transport/house the extra teams.
We actually agree here

It's just a way for power league teams to get extra units and save them from buyouts from firing consistently .500 coaches.

Nothing to do with the health of the sport or the competitiveness of the tournament.

This probably won't happen, but this idea from Lunardi would improve an expansion.

I don't know if requiring a minimum number of wins is a good idea (will discourage teams from playing competitive non-con games) but I'd be in favor of saying you have to have a winning record in your conference.

Correct. Those are the schools you've determined to be your peers. If you can't go .500 against them (excluding league tournaments) you don't deserve to be in the tournament.

If there isn't money, it doesn't happen. No chance anything happens anymore because fans would just like it.

Based on what I've read, expansion is not a money maker and hasn't happened sooner due to the added operational costs and CBS/Turner's reluctance on increasing payouts. Now the likes of Yormark and Phillips think that expansion will provide their individual conferences with more units/revenues with more of their teams getting in but this is one proposal that Yormark can shove up his ass.

Won’t happen, but it would be cool with expansion they made it so the top 12 conferences get a second auto bid for the conference to distribute.

It wouldn’t change anything for the power conferences, but we would at least get more mid majors in the whole field.

Well, the college presidents (big education) were the ones who ruined college football. So it’s not just businessmen ruining college sports.

Am I the only one that ignores the play in games? I don't watch them and I don't fill out a bracket that has those games. For me, the tourney starts on Thursday.

I watch them simply because I love CBB. But I don't fill out my bracket until it's down to 64.

Never understood picking a play in game team to advance to the second round when you don't even know which one it will be yet.

Imagine how fine the print will have to be when you print out your brackets. This alone will eliminate a lot of old folks like me from following the tourney
