NSCR: NASCAR 2024 thread

So i bought 4 tickets and pit/garage passes to any nascar race in the 2024 or 2025 season at an auction a few days ago. What is the best track to go to for someone that isn't a huge fan. I messaged the guy who provided the tickets and mentioned daytona and he mentioned the high hotel prices and insane number of people, and suggested Phoenix for the championship. What are other good tracks/races.

I think the “fix” to NASCAR begins with throwing stages the **** out.

There were ZERO yellows until 3 laps remaining in Richmond.

Can you imagine the pit strategies having to go on if you’re going 350 continuous laps?

But instead, everyone gets to wait until the end of stage one, everyone can go halfway for stage 2, and then the race actually starts.

I just attended the race here in Richmond and from a fan experience it was top tier. With Richmond being a short track you could see the whole track, but the prerace stuff and driver access was great. The racing itself was ok, the softer tire option made it somewhat interesting and watching Austin Dillion wreck Joey and Denny live was great. It is also a night race so that aspect is cool.

If I could go to any race on the schedule I would think about the final at Phoenix. Being able to see a race winner and Championship celebration would be cool.

I would also recommend the All-Star race, while not a points race the additional aspects of unique qualifying and the hard racing would be fun.

The stages and the playoff need to go, they are just gimmicks.

The playoff system is a joke and possibly the worst decision NASCAR has ever made. Personally I thought the original chase was a good format with 10 and then 12 drivers but it was based off of points not wins

When you purposely take out two drivers, NASCAR had to do something. I will say Ross Chastain's move last year was way cooler than what Dillion did. Plus Dillion in a punk, just riding on Grandpa Richards coat tails.

It was a ******** ***** move by Dillon. IMO the penalties weren't enough.

So many questions:
  • How skillful was the move, even if inappropriate? Did he do some amazing driving? Or was he just lucky that he didn't wreck himself?
  • What exactly did he do to Hamlin. I've still not seen a good video. When I saw it live, I thought Hamlin overcompensated to expecting to get bumped, trying to hit Dillon, missed, and went into the wall.
  • Do you think NASCAR would have made the same ruling if the guy on his crew hadn't said "wreck him?"

-No skill, just flat out ran into the back of him. I’m surprised he didn’t take himself out.

-After he hit Logano, he came down and clipped the right rear of Hamlin sending him up to the wall.

-Wasn’t there something a few years ago when Clint Boyer was running with Michael Walton Racing and was told to like slow down or something to like that. I still think they may have done something as he took out the top 2 drivers in less than 1/4 lap.
