Muted excitement?

It seems like off of CF the buzz around football starting is quite muted compared to previous years. The ticket exchange on here is full of tickets (seems like more than normal) and there has to be at least 20,000 on ticketmaster.

Besides the gambling stuff, which I doubt affects hardcore fans attending vs not attending, does anyone else sense a lack of excitement?

It’s refreshing.

I meant that CMC better not complain if Jack Trice is 2/3rds full today. Coming off a 4 win season, with only 1 conference win, then the gambling thing, everyone predicting us to finish last or next to last in the conference, and then throw in 94 degree temps... people are not excited to go to this game, or excited for the season for that matter. But don't blame the fans for that.

I'll always be excited every year to watch the Clones, but I'm the definition of a 'fanatic'. Not everyone is that way. I'm very excited to see how all the young talent plays, and it will be easy to cheer for them... especially knowing that they are the ones that resisted going out and gambling and had the 'team' first attitude.

When has he blamed the fans? Why are you projecting this nonsense of CMC complaining about a small crowd?

Amen. College football games average around 16 commercial breaks per game, each lasting 2 1/2 - 3 minutes. The one advantage of being on ESPN+ today is that the commercial breaks will be a little shorter.

Then there's a 20 minute halftime. Payton Manning said halftime adjustments are a myth - he never made a halftime adjustment in his 18 year career. He said all the players do at halftime is eat a few oranges, go to the bathroom, and wait for the coach to yell let's go. He says the halftime could be cut in half.
On days like today, being on ESPN+ is a blessing. Sometimes we feel like that dude in the red/orange shirt is on the field more than the teams.

Yeah I am not looking forward to sitting in this at all, seems insane that we didn't have this game at 5 or 7. Heck even 3 would have been nicer for the 2nd half.
It because if you do it at night, and it rains, it's over. See SDSU game a few years ago. Pollard said he wouldn't do that again.

I'm excited. No expectations, half the polls have us last so what's there to lose? Besides our pride but we're used to losing that. And I think we are way underrated as far as our standings in the Big 12 polls go.

Excited to see these new QBs compete and play with this new offense! Of course the game will be hella stressful and ruin my long holiday weekend but I am still excited none the less.

That sums up my feelings perfectly.

Everybody just standing around going 'So....' without anything to talk about.
You mean people are talking about Remsburg's ban?

I swear some Hawk alumni runs the ESPN website. Also wish ISU would have been able to announce all suspensions at once to get gambling stuff on backburner. Even on CF the Remsburg suspension is 1st story on homepage.

What's your definition of loaded with NFL talent?
Well, “loaded” might be a bit strong…BUT a top 15 NFL draft pick, a RB who was well on his way to NFL offensive Rookie of the Year, and the starting quarterback on one of the teams in the NFC Championship Game are a pretty good start, no?

Yeah but the Oline and receiving corps weren't along with the middle and backside of the defense.
