I actually held one of these hornets while on a trip to Japan. It was lethargic, so I was able to grab its wings and take a picture of it. I'm currently looking for that picture, but so far no luck finding it. I think it is on an old phone memory card. And no, I didn't sneak it back and release it it Washington...

It wasn't dead, it must have been old, its wings were a little bet up and it was very slow.
