More Campbell Love

I love the hybrid version of the spread that we've installed. Seems like the goal is a power running game with a mix of big receivers and speed receivers pressuring the defense all over the field. The defense is perfectly built to defend Big 12 offenses too, but we'll need to always have some special guys in the front 6 to make it work this well.

This hybrid offense as you call it will get more run dominant as the line and hbacks/tight ends develop. Again, the reason CMC was hired is partially based on the fact this offense can grind out yards and time to keep those throw happy big 12 offenses off the field. Mix in good special teams and an improved defense and you have a solid chance for a win in every game. Welcome to "Campbell Ball".

That's why it's so pleasing to see the team get 8 (9) wins ahead of schedule. There are some big linemen in the pipeline already that will get that push that we need. Time of possession in the bowl game certainly showed what you can do with that and a great defensive effort.

Y’all questioned why Campbell would take the Iowa State job... Look at the crowd they brought today. He’s winning with a QB that couldn’t get on the field at a Community College. His guys are coming & they’re going to win even more. Dude’s legit. Don’t question the process.

Can we get a boner emoji?

Yep. It's a solid plan, especially if you can't recruit on same level with some opponents.

I totally agree with on the front 6. Good thing is that it only took barely a year to get that done. Amazing job by this staff to integrate new and old players and elevate their play exponentially.

The team clearly earned 9-4 (criminal is the right word) and had two losses to bowl teams where one play in the final seconds could have flipped the result.

To me it’s awesome that we played 10 bowl teams and were in every single game. Ohio State couldn’t do that. Played less bowl teams and got blown out twice.

Re the criminal game...what happens if Snyder doesn’t retire? Does he get a fixed game to end every season from here on?

I hope he doesn' retire and we punish them in Ames next year.

A decent QB could take us a long way, the defense is legit. I think Zeb maybe a star in the Making, he has the potential to be special. He has the Arm, just needs experience with the reads. Also if the line gets better next year, we have two RBs, who could break some records.

Why blast that team? Do you have actual quotes from that team? You dont.

Wasn't intended to be a critique of the team at all...I loved that team and the turnaround they had in Rhoads' first year.

I should have left "team" out of it, honestly. It's a different feel (in my opinion) from this staff and any of their predecessors about what the possibility of this program can ultimately be.

Convincing a young Matt Campbell, who was in high demand, to come to Ames has to be one of Pollard's biggest accomplishments.
It was much easier selling Campbell on taking the ISU job with Lou Ayeni already on Rhoads staff. Campbell had someone that he trusted telling him how special the job could be.

I can't remember another season where we were in every game until the end. There is usually at least one or two beat downs in there... that is a huge step. If that continues, and I don't see why it wouldn't, we are looking good going forward.
2005 is the only other season I can remember where we were in every game. That team should've been 10-2 but McCarney's patented late game mismanagement struck often.

I always forget that Ayeni was on Rhoads staff. I would love to get a couple drinks in him and find out his thoughts between the 2 staffs. Not necessarily to bag on CPR, but how he sees things from the inside.

Remember, he was at Toledo with CMC before going to ISU.
