Monte Morris. Awesome Video. Absolute stud.

Wow. Extremely happy to have Monte playing with the clones this season. One of the major things I noticed was just how much fun it looked like he was having on the court.

Also, I love the way his game made him look like a man among boys out there.

Just curious, how does Morris compare to guys like Tinsley and Stinson coming out of HS as far as shooting, driving, handles, defense?

Stinson was not a highly ranked recruit and put up ridiculous numbers for a freshman. Tinsley came from a JUCO after getting his GED, if I remember correctly. The comparisons don't really match up at all.

Diante Garrett would be an easier comparison. Diante was ranked in the 100-125 range, so Monte is more highly ranked and was Michigan's Mr. Basketball. Diante was thrown to the wolves his freshman year when he was clearly too thin to be playing PG in the Big 12. Monte is probably too thin as well, but he won't need to play as much as Diante unless he is too good to keep off the court.

My personal opinion is Monte's offensive game is a little more polished than Diante's was coming out of high school. He's also a natural born leader where Diante was more of a lead-by-example type. I think he can be a better player on better teams, although there wasn't much Diante could do about that. Diante probably had a higher ceiling which is what we are seeing with him on the Suns.

Sorry if that was too long. I was mostly thinking out loud.

He is a much different player than Tinsley and Stinson. They relied on their fast-break buckets and were extremely strong for college guards. Tinsley could get the ball in the paint on command. He had the ball on a string at all times. Stinson could bench press over 300 lbs and bull his way to the bucket with a perfected tear-drop shot. Neither of those two could shoot the ball from outside. At this stage, Monte has a more complete game. He'll use his quickness to create off the dribble and is far more lethal from long range. As mentioned above, his best quality is that he's a tremendous leader that absoluitely hates to lose.

I think Monte will have a great career at ISU. His game is very polished for an incoming freshman. He appears to be one of those guys that just makes others around him better. He also seems to have a great understanding of the game. I hope he earns a bunch of minutes as a freshman.

Only watched a few minutes of the video, but Morris is very versatile. Good jump shot, really quick moves, sharp court presence to make things happen, dishes the ball, scores while being fouled, etc. Still bummed that I couldn't get to CCL to see him this summer.

MM and MT are the real deal IMO. Those two are locks to start along with Nader and Niang in 2014-15 from what I've seen

Super excited for this kid! If he and Thomas are of Niang or Christopherson quality or similar... we are going to be a force to be reckoned with this year...
