Money raising for NIL

As a Cyclone Club member, I received an email on December 18 informing me that there were other ways of supporting athletics including We Will, the unrestricted fund, and the Champions Circle. The email stated that We Will supports the coaches in their efforts to recruit and retain high caliber athletes. That’s the only thing I’ve seen, but I haven’t given to We Will in the past.
Weird. I’m a Gold level Cyclone Club member and I didn’t get anything. I did get something this morning from the Foundation that said the same thing, but that’s the first I heard from anyone associated with the AD or foundation regarding the We Will Fund. I honestly wonder if I would have even gotten that email if I hadnt made a donation to the fund already

Raffle off an opportunity to give 1 electric shock to the timeout clock guy. That would certainly make watching him during timeouts be a lot more interesting too.

P.S. The electric shock would not be life threatening, but big enough so that we would all know when it happened.

I would pay to do that to the guy who calls the Iowa Heartlanders hockey matches, but, unfortunately, ISU wouldn't get the money.

Would bid on dinner with John Walters, though.

I got one from the foundation this morning, but it didn’t include anything about athletics or We Will. It was just one of those “It’s not too late to give” end of year messages. I imagine they segment their email lists to try to figure out which appeals work best.

I guess I’m an unlucky one. The most profitable one is the most convenient one in my area. Went to just grain with them and getting paid right away. Think that’s a common theme.
Don’t get caught watching the paint dry.

There needs to be people held accountable for that mess…I’m kinda shocked they’re still holding on.

I can hear the story when we win the natty "Innovate at iowa state....through a partnership with the donor network....iowa state has been able to land every top prospect with their "championship kidney' campaign.....fan can even visit CyTown on Friday and McFarland Clinic will take the kidney and with their advanced recovery,.fans walk out the door the next day ready to tailgate and cheer on the Cyclones!"
End zone seating area will be known as the Cyclone Kidney Klub

All I know is that putting Landus on your resume is probably a black mark. Best to say you were unemployed
I followed a guy on X for awhile…but they took his account down for some reason…or he did.

The Watchful Eye…he had a lot of insight and they were trying to find him.

Some was made up though. I know that just out of stuff he said a person couldn’t do, I was still allowed.

I would be willing to pony up for a 21st Century Dirty 30 to go to the 30 players who stay & not leave the team & university, but not looking like we will get close to that number.

My understanding is that he wants it all to go to the general fund. My understanding of his reasoning is that ISU currently doesn't have the revenue to cover the $20 million rev share and is dipping into reserves, so really the AD needs that money so it can be distributed equitably among sports.

I think if ISU could cover its deficit, he would be more open to direct donations to FB or MBB. I'm not Jamie so this is just a guess.
Think this sums up the issue nicely

That’s fine. I’m fine with what we can do with a lack of funding. An above average coach will have success in this conference. I’ve got a house to pay off, kids to get through college, and retirement someday hopefully to save for. Not paying for a random 18 year old kid to make more money than me in a year to play football while also playing video games, smoking pot, and getting some tail in his free time only for them to decide to leave after 12 months. I just don’t think that should fall on average Joes like me.

There are a lot of us in this boat. I don't mind paying a little extra for some beer and pizza,
But to give a kid north of 6 figures to play sports naw dawg. Someone else can cut those checks.

I was fine donating while I got a tangible benefit/ experience from it, like pourcyne said up thread. My buddy and I usually walked out of the We Will auctions as part of the signing day party with something. Honestly, the way the AD and Foundation have managed or even tried to grow the We Will Fund, coupled with the last month or so have made me less interested in donating moving forward- I’d rather donate to the Animal Science program or Ag 450 farm- there’s at least some benefit there vs. paying for Jeremiah Cooper’s new car.

This sport is so screwed up- no way the fans/ ticket holders should have to keep paying more and more with less and less of a benefit

Made up or you had a local guy bending rules for you? Or your business was important enough for them to make an exception.

I just know we used to prepay a ton in the winter…would never do it now. My dad & brother stored grain…I never did, but wouldn’t do it there now.

No just normal business one thing was you had to take a check, I’ve always been ACH and never had to take a check. Another was something about grain delivery so I called the grain purchaser and asked a couple questions that would be routine and then slipped one in that he said (don’t remember the exact one) and got the opposite answer of what was posted.

I’m definitely not important enough to have stuff done for me.
