Mizzou

It's always good to see how a KU fan would view things.
This has nothing to do with KU so don't add them to the conversation. This is about basketball. Wouldn't you want ISU to hire assistant coaches that have an in with elite recruits? Maybe one AC on a staff is hired for his actual coaching abilities. The rest are hired to get players.

Being Pollyanna about hiring just handcuffs your team.

Thank you for the KU insight.

Why shouldn't Porter Sr be allowed to work in college basketball, and why should his sons not be allowed to play for him?

I think it's great that the kids want to play for their dad. A lot better for their hometown school (Mizzou) to get them, than be wasted out in Washington.

And I would rather they waste their talents at Mizzou than play for a contender that will make the NCAA tourney.

An assistant coach's job is to land recruits. Hiring a coach who has an elite recruit as a son is no different than hiring a coach who has a great relationship with a recruit or their AAU/high school coach, etc... Thats what they are hired for, to utilize their relationships to get players.

OK, maybe KU would be better off hiring the recruits' mothers in an attempt to cut down on dorm rapes?

And adding Porter Jr and his bro might improve them from a 26 loss team to a 18 loss team. They still arent going to be very good, certainly not a Top 50 team.

Exactly, they'll be improved but not great, somewhere between Washington this year and LSU when the had Ben Simmons.

They will be NIT material. Probably close to TCU level this year I think, but just below that. Better than people think.

I see what you're saying, but the difference is that TCU has Jamie Dixon as their coach. I think you see the difference he made for them this year in terms of recruiting AND in-game coaching. But, I wouldn't be surprised if MU made it to the NIT. Then, in that scenario, the question would be: "Would Porter actually play in the NIT if he is prepping for a jump to the NBA?"

Greg McDermott lost by 9 points, in Austin, when he played against Kevin Durant. This doesn't scare me.
Was it with 5 new starters and first game of the year. You are underestimating all that. I'm not saying we are going to be terrible next season, but we are going to be really really rough in November. This is a tough game to start out right away with next years team. Would rather play a few Prairie View A&Ms and Mississippi Valley States at home start out.

Hope he's ready to plan in front of a rocking crowd

Imo TCU underachieved as much as Martin's.

I'll almost guarantee the Iowa St game is sold out, and not because of Cyclone fans. I'm not saying Iowa St fans won't come, but it'll be full of Mizzou fans too. Missouri, just 4 years ago, had a very good team, with a passionate fan base, and I'm certain they will be back, especially for the first game of the season.
