Missing NW Iowa Men

I feel like this thread would make a lot more sense if I was on shrooms before reading the theories many of you guys have
I gather that the man in the ISU cap, Mr. Carter, was found innocent by a jury of his peers. Apparently had a rock solid alibi.
No homicide per autopsy results. Chalk up another W for Occum’s Razor.
They ruled that no crime had been committed therefore they are not sharing cause of death.
But can they explain what the hell happened and how the hell if they searched at all he wasnt found in the middle of an open field, only 1 mile away?
Something strange happened but doubt we will ever find out what.
That certainly is an odd read. Apparently they know the cause of death now but will not reveal it.
I don't know protocol in this, but do they need family permission to share the cause of death? Maybe that's not occurring. I'm not sure.
I wonder if they are going to arrest the meth dealer at the truckstop that he stopped at.
I am 99.9999% sure they do need family permission to release the cause of death in these non-criminal cases of death.
Shortly after the body was found I heard that the field he was found in was mistakenly labeled as "already searched". Not making any accusation but that is quite the coincidence or a very poorly organized search. It's freaking Western Iowa every thing is relatively flat and laid out in squares or rectangles.
Not sure, because I know death certificates are public records, which have cause of death on them. But maybe they arent public right away?
My guess is there’s evidence that makes this look like a suicide, or he was really intoxicated and got confused and wandered off and died. That would explain why the family doesn’t want to release the cause of death.
But if you can’t shake how they didn’t find the body during the first search (most likely incompetence), that would leave the door opened for a skilled assassin theory. I’ve tossed that idea around, but I’ll move my vote to Occam’s Razor.

They just missed him. Human error. Or maybe the body was in a spot that was easily missed. That isn’t something strange. It happens all the time.
If there is a small creek or CRP strips in the field where he was found I can believe that a search party could miss the body. We pheasant hunt up there yearly and that tall grass is gnarly.
