Hey, thought I would just check out and see if you had a D-Board. Also just wondering if you all had any ideas about good places to go in and around Ames (food, bars, hangouts) over the weekend you host the World Vision Classic.

Also if you had any hotel suggestions let me know. Either post here or you can email me too [email protected]

Can't wait

Hotel: Gateway Hotel

Bars: Any of them except for Papa's Corner

Restaurants: Obviously Hickory Park. Others: Maude's, Northwest Cafe, La Fuente.

Other food suggestions: Battle's BBQ, Flying Burrito, West Cyde Wings, Jeff's Pizza

Bars: Outlaws, Paddy's, Mickey's, Capones, (Campustown!)

Pizza = Great Plains Sauce and Dough Co.
BBQ = Hickory Park - get there early and expect a wait if there's something going on in town. (BBall game or what).

Ditto on the food

Pizza - Great plaines - get thick whole wheat crust and put honey on it. Their pizza is one of kind. (downtown Ames)

BBQ - HIckory Park food is decent, atmosphere is fun and family friendly. (near 30)

Bar hopping - Generally, Campustown if you're 18-22, Ames downtown if you're 23 and over.

Hotel - Cheap - Super 8 in Nevada, just 10 miles east - I always stay there. If you like nice places, Gateway. Everything else is in between. If you like boutique type hotels, the hotel at the Union is enjoyable, and only a walk from campustown if you are planning on drinking much.

Hey nothing wrong with going to Welch being 24 now! I love my Cafe Beaudelare (sp?) long islands!
