He does play it up. His playoff explanation is hilarious and he milks it.

That's it. Some weird humorous guys know that they are odd and funny, so they play that. It is some of my favorite humor. It's like Zach Galifinakis in some ways.

Well the other thing is that most coaches don't enjoy answering questions. He seems to enjoy it and I think people like to see that once in awhile.

You KNOW that the local sports media spitballs questions to ask him every week, just to see what would get the most bizairre response. It would be pure gold to be a sports reporter in Pullman right now.

That is so brilliantly awkward.

P.S. Did you see the player give Leach the rabbit ears during the interview? Can you imagine someone doing that to Campbell? Maybe only JaQuan Bailey!

That’s him normally. He rarely talks about football, but ask him anything else and it a 30 minute conversation. We were talking about some of the people we both knew from Tech and it ended up being a 30 minute conversation much of it spent on how to dig fence posts and the different methods you can use. I’m not making this **** up. Neither of us are fans of fence pole digging. He wasn’t trying to be funny, that’s really him. Everyone in the Atheletic Dept. has an impression of him or story.

I guess i should say i dont understand the attraction to him or his humor.

I watched the Alamo Bowl presser and all I can say is people expect him to say something zany and he tries. It's apparent that he tries. And that's what gets tiresome for me - trying to be funny because other people think you should be funny.

I guess the crazy stuff he says , forced or not, is still more interesting than 99%of the coaches intrrvinte where they spew the same boring cliches.

Remember, this guy went to law school. Can you imagine this guy in a courtroom?
