Metcalf Possibly Leaving?

So I was just told that the women in the HWC were told they needed to find a new home this summer unless some donors step up and can afford to keep them. I'm not big into women's wrestling but is that a big blow to their club?

I believe that is a big deal, if true. Women’s wrestling is on the verge of blowing up, I believe, and HWC has a lot of the best.

Keep in mind it isn’t just money...there’s been bad blood starting between Gilman and HWC...I think it’s just a repeat story like it was with Ramos.

Gilman and Brands have made it pretty clear over the last day there’s no bad blood or hurt feelings.

Which is a bit surprising. Only speculation on my part, but I bet Cael has a bunch of stipulations around Gilman's behavior. He doesn't seem to bring in a lot of loose cannons. (Andrew Long being the exception that proves the rule)

If lee is his top competition for his weight then it makes sense to go train and learn at another location.

They had a plan in place to make it work with both Lee and Gilman. HWC desperately wanted to keep him. They weren't going to let this be another Ramos situation. There is no other way to spin it but losing Perry and Gilman over money is a huge deal. Gilman told Iowa to match Penn State's compensation package and they told him the funds weren't there. They tried to make some promises to pay him down the road but he's not dumb and he knows the money isn't coming. They're broke

I think I just became a Gilman fan. Throw down an ass whooping to Iowa's golden boy, turn hawk camp into cannibals and walk his happy ass back to Cael Country. And that's the bottom line!!

If I am going to have to root for one of the two to represent the US, I'm picking Lee 10 times out of 10.

It would have made more sense for him to go to OkSt. Money has to be a significant factor. No lightweight has been better internationally than Smith, and the only guy who can easily be seen beating both Lee and Gilman is Fix in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State was an option as was Arizona State. Those two both offered more than Iowa could

The other thing I forgot to mention is that Gilman is a jerk, and hubris likely helped make this happen as well. He was not the best 57 at Iowa, that was always going to be Lee. The same could be said about OkSt, where Fix is a lot younger and has already beat him. He will be top dog at PSU down there.
