Meeks

I thought he was pretty slow when I've seen him play... but hoped it was more mental slow as a freshman

Miller was out of position alot in the UNI game (mainly due to not knowing where to line up), however, since he has stepped in for Luke he has been getting better every week and I feel comfortable with him out there now.

Just thinking out loud.... Most likely won't happen but Brackens was a safety out of high school. Seely, Knott, Meeks at linebackers and Brackens at safety? Highly unlikely, just a thought. I think it will be a mix of Rodgers/Cotton or JUCO guys playing our safeties next season.

My first instinct about Brackens is no way. He as not been very good in pass coverage so moving him into a position where that is more of his role doesn't seem to make much sense.

He's improved a ton since UNI. Still like Knott more when healthy though.

Neither has Broomfield, but I completely see your point. I wouldn't be shocked to see Rodgers as our FS next season.

Meeks had an offer from Florida State out of high school to play LB. Would be surprised if he didn't find his way on the field next season.

This /\

They had a hard time keeping him off the field this year. Rhoads said he wouldn't RS a few times before the season and may have even said it after the UNI game.

I don't want to throw rocks at the kid if everyone else thinks he is getting better, but as a unit the LBers were as bad as you can get in the second half of the OU game. OU had several huge plays right up the middle with no LBer in sight, so someone was out of position, or there was more gap confusion.

That's good to hear. He seems to be making tackles and filling gaps better (with a few notable exceptions). Hope he continues to work and improve. We need him.

He HAS improved since the UNI game, but I can't count how many times I just see him dive at the blocker with his head down while the RB goes right on by. I can't say for sure what defensive scheme we were running in the second half last week, but those gigantic holes were right where Miller was...until he wasn't.

I love JG, but watch where he is lined up on every big run up the middle. Head scratcher on a couple.

Miller has gotten better but just watching the OU game the long runs that happened in the game is because Miller over-pursued the play every time and the runner when were he was and was gone. Jake knott even tweeted about it the players being in the right spot but not reading their keys.

Still, let's give Miller some credit. If Curt is saying this about him, we should accept it. He is making some good tackles and has definitely improved a ton through the season.

I never said he was playing perfect. But he has come along ways from the UNI disaster. The more Reps he gets in real time action the better he is getting. He still has some mistakes but he is working to correct these.

The main issue has always been playing with a free safety who is a horrible tackler. Whats funny is a terrible tackler is going to be one of all time tacklers at isu, stats wise because he played so many years.

Washington is beyond terrible as a run stopper and without knott and klein covering fOr him he looks even worse.

Washington was unblocked in all those long plays and in position to make an ordinary tackle. He didn't even touch the ball carrier. You can't have a safety who is scared to hit.

Washington has jumped on backs since he has been here or completely whiffed. It drives me nuts watching him.

I disagree. He is 2nd in the big twelve in tackles this year. A three year starter at safety that has to play linebacker isn't fair.

He isn't at linebacker. Rolling a safety up isnt playing him at linebacker.

This is a good example how much people really pay attention.

Washington is a horrible tackler. Horrible.. I could show highlight after highlight of him being unblocked! And not touch anyone! Even though the ball carrier is rumning right at him.

It happened several times saturday from his safety position.

Oh.. the former isu safety I know agrees btw.

I am well aware of what a safeties job is on the field. I am simply making a statement that he has had to fill in on a lot of the front end support that Knott and Klein took care of in years past. I didnt say the guy was great, but being a great open field tackler and being "scared to hit" are two different things. You making that statement shows how little you know. Feel free to tell your safety friend that as well. :)
At least it seems like we plan to secure a JuCo to fill his roll next season. With Rodgers at SS, Tribune and Sam E on the corners, we might not take a step back next year at all in the secondary.

As much heat as the LB's have taken this year, and I think Jevhon has improved, I have been just as dissapointed in our safeties. For having two seniors with experience they have just not made a lot of plays. But then again its just been one of those years and nothing has gone well.

When I see him start running to get there instead of the opposite or him actually not taking a false step before contact then I will believe that. Never seen a SAFETY stop and turn his head as much as he does.

Oh he acts like he makes plays after hopping on piles and he definitely puts on a show. Too bad he shows time and again that he wants no part of physical football. He wants none of it.

I've seen enough and played enough football to know what it looks like when someone doesn't like contact and that's all I have ever seen from him.

I have named something. I have named it after Diante Garrett when a senior is just bashed for the sake of being a senior that's played a lot. Jeremiah and Jacques, you've been DG'd
