These two boxing straight up would be the biggest joke in the history of sports. Mayweather wouldn't get touched by McGregor once. Not once.
I think some of you are under estimating Conor's striking.
Would he win? No not unless he caught Floyd off guard with a left and was able to knock him down. But he would land some shots but would probably get countered and touched throughout the fight.

I think you're underestimating Floyd's elusiveness. If Canelo Alvarez can't touch Floyd with anything meaningful, McGregor sure can't.
Exactly. Some of the best boxers ever haven't been able to touch Floyd, let alone hurt him. McGregor would look like an idiot in the boxing ring (and there's nothing wrong with that, it's an entirely different sport).
Likewise, in an MMA fight, McGregor would most likely take Floyd down and finish him pretty easily, though I think Floyd would be able to keep his distance with jabs for a while.
Also, this will never happen.
I think they need to have an every man decathalon. First bowling, then darts, throw some cornhole in there. Flippy cup, go cart racing, pool, horse, miniature golf, three legged race, and then finish it up with an Any Which way you can type of fight like Philo and Wilson had. Throw in some of those punch sound effects, and you have got yourself a ratings goldmine.
I'd love to see McGregor knock Floyd's head off, but as others have mentioned that won't happen if its a strait boxing match. I'd still probably tune in to watch though.

I know that Floyd doesn't need the money and is 'retired', but who else could he fight at this point that he would bring in more than 1 milion ppv buys? Maybe if he fought Canelo again, but that isn't going to happen. I think he cares a lot more about his legacy than he lets on.
Conor has options, he does over 2 million ppv buys if he fights either Diaz, Khabib, Woodley or Ferguson. The UFC is trying to get in to Russia, could you imagine Conor vs. an undefeated Khabib in Russia? A bunch of drunk, rowdy irish/russian fans in an arena together.

That already happened with the Mayweather/Pacquiao snoozefest. I don't see how Boxing will climb back into relevancy.
There's no way this would be anything but boxing. Mayweather would never do MMA.
Wonder if McGregor would ever do a warm up boxing fight. Even if one where you have no press, no audience, no media, but an actual exhibition fight and not just training.
Yeah, Floyd doesn't seem to know the buy numbers whenever he has talked about this. There isn't a fight out there for him comes even close to this one. It would crush the PPV records. I'm not saying Floyd doesn't help Conor, because he does but Floyd seems to think Conor is on par with other guys in terms of draw and that isn't true.
Khabib and Conor in Russia is the fight. Woodley and Conor doesn't really even interest me that much.
Yeah but Canelo is more of a bruiser and likes to play the counter puncher game. I don't see him as a good comparison to Conor's style.
I think people are underestimating Conor as a striker, but at the same time when he fights his opponents have to be thinking of defending the takedown while they're trying to defend his striking. That might exaggerate how good of a striker he really is or can be in a fight like this. Floyd is already one of the greatest defensive fighters ever, and he won't have to worry about Conor going after his legs.
You must not understand boxing at all. Just because you are good striker doesnt mean you are a good boxer. Why do you thnk it is called the sweet science?
It's been a long time since anyone's ever worried about getting taken down by him. The guys he's fought recently would gladly let him take them down.
If you watched the GGG/Lemieux fight, GGG is a lot better boxer than people give him credit for and with more devastating power than Canelo. He would make it interesting for sure.
