for the Beatles breakup.

But now McCartney is setting the record straight for good. “I didn’t instigate the split. That was our Johnny,” he has insisted in a candid and detailed interview to be broadcast later this month.

Recalling what he sees as the “most difficult period of my life”, McCartney, who celebrates his 80th birthday next summer, reveals he wanted the group to go on, especially as after just eight years together, they were still creating “pretty good stuff”. “Abbey Road, Let It Be, not bad,” he will argue in an upcoming episode of the new BBC Radio 4 interview series This Cultural Life. “This was my band, this was my job, this was my life, so I wanted it to continue.”

Their music continued to evolve album by album. I think they would have remained great. And as we’ve seen to this day, most of their later stuff truly is timeless.
Oh I'm sure that it would have been a good quality I just don't know that it would have matched the times. In the end it probably wouldn't have mattered because their name would have sold anything they put out but a lot of music is timing.

I don't see how we get George Harrison's music without the Beatles breakup.
His role in the band was limited when it came to song writing.
They limited his playing too. He wanted more solo's but was denied. For example, he came up with one for Hey Jude but it didn't make the final cut. Plus, they buried his guitar in a lot of the mixes. They let him really play on Abbey Road though.

Which is absolutely my favorite album from them.

You could put together a pretty great album (both live and studio) by picking your favorites tracks from each of their solo albums in the 70s plus Wings.

They really undervalued him. Obviously if Paul or John left, the band was done. I remember a story where Ringo walked out once and they were in a panic, saying he was the heart and soul of the band. Then, once when George walked out they just said “eh, we can replace him with Clapton.”

Anyone watch McCartney 321? It was great!

It's fantastic. Could listen to he and Rubin discuss music for hours.

The Peter Jackson documentary coming to Disney+ at Thanksgiving is getting glowing reviews from the pre-screens. Can't wait for that one either.

Oh, and McCartney >>>>>>>>>>> Lennon
