Maybe Tom Brady should STFU

Brady can get bent. I think Scottie's comments are awesome and I'm guessing most athletes feel the same way but don't say it. You work your *** off to achieve your goals, get there and realize at the end of it you're still just a regular person. You win the Claret Jug and it's awesome and it was a huge goal, but when it's over you are still going home to hang out with your family and enjoy life.

Sports are means to an end, just like any job. I loved what Scheffler had to say, and it's good perspective for fans.

Who on here knows Tom Brady and his family personally?
More than I wanted to know. He's made his life pretty public on many occasions. I wouldn't even say anything if he wasn't throwing a fit over something completely benign. He can be however he wants to be but you will be judged in a social context for things that happen in your life especially when they're directly connected to your own behavior. That's just humanity.

A job you love is better than a job you hate but still just a job eventually if you do it long enough. There’s nothing wrong with what SS said, I don’t even have kids but I would tend to agree. TB can disagree and disagreeing is fine but responding to it directly when he wasn’t part of the conversation makes it look like he has some insecurities or regrets.

There’s a clip out there of Brady after one of his super bowls (linked below) talking about how he still didn’t feel fulfilled in life. Ironic, because Scottie pretty much said the same thing before the Open. Only difference is Scheffler doesn’t put his entire identity in golf like Brady did football. Scottie doesn’t get his sense of self-worth (for lack of better terms) from how good he is at golf.

And it's not like Scottie isn't talking the talk here, either. He's been #1 for a long time is currently is in a dominant run with an infant at home. He seems to be doing just fine in both areas at the moment, as far as the public can tell.

Scottie seems pretty legit about his take. I just don't see evidence to suggest otherwise.

Honestly, Scottie's perspective is very refreshing. Many men and women put way too much emphasis on their career compared to their personal/family life. We should be working to live, not living to work. Fans also put pressure on these athletes to focus on their sport 24/7.

Many times people don’t realize they are focused on possessions too much also. Think about how people grew up and now. Need a house 2-3x bigger than their parents, vehicles way nicer than their parents, travel and vacations their parents never even came close to. Then they claim it’s a career thing.

That's a fairly American thing

Seems like Tom was triggered by the comment from Scottie.

I hope Tom is working on being a better color guy for the NFL games he does, because tbh he's the WORST. He's gifted the #1 slot and I can't think of many that are worse than Brady. :puke:

He's famous for having an elephant's memory particularly when it involves moments where he feels he's being disrespected. So petty.

Inside the painted lines, being "petty" can be somewhat of a competitive advantage if channeled correctly - motivation, focus, etc.

Outside of that context, it's quite the opposite.

Sure, but people still resent you for it in the competitive context. Michael Jordan is a perfect example.

Parent how you want to parent. Work as much as you want to work. Doesn’t affects any of us.

Odd that one of the best QBs of all time is so insecure.

Maybe that's how he got to be one of the best?

These folks aren't built like the rest of us. Saw one of the top investment dudes with a bed in his office. The drive these people have in their chosen field is unreal and doesn't make sense to a lot of us.

I'm driven to retire before AI and robots **** everything up. That's about it from a professional level now.

Personally I think most parents put plenty of focus on their own personal well-being AND careers and too little with actual parenting. I think there's been an epidemic of the "I have to focus on myself in order to be the best parent I can," which seems to mean maxing out time the kids are at daycare, babysitters and grandparents so these parents can live like they still don't have kids.

How sad were the Tom Brady NFL on Fox commercials with his flashbacks about people doubting him and how he's going to put in the work to be the best at being a TV analyst. It was so weird.

I don't like the jealousy or resentment and dunking on Brady for his personal problems. But if he's triggered by a guy having the gall to say that he'd rather be good at parenting than hitting a ball with a stick, then he's got some real problems.
