I think one of the keys for a long postseason run next week will be to avoid teams with an answer for Niang on the defensive end of the floor. The below guys come to mind are athletic enough on the perimeter and have enough length in the post. Who else do you want to avoid and/or what teams have no answer defensively?

Jake Layman - Maryland
Malcolm Brogdon - Virginia
Brice Johnson - UNC

Teams I think Niang would cause headaches for and really have no answer defensively.

Duke
Michigan State
Kansas
Purdue

There is no one that can shut him down. He might have a bad game and miss some shots, but it won't be because of the defender. He is the best offensive player in the country. When was the last time he was even slow3d down for a game other than being in foul trouble?

Sanogo from Seton Hall would be tough. He'd be a tough matchup for ISU all around. He's done well against Ellenson from Marquette.

Purdue would be a awful match up for Isu...awful. Their 2 bigs are NBA bigs. Niang and McKay would be fouled out early.

I disagree I'd love to see that matchup. If they try to play two centers at the same time like they do Niang can defend the 5. He has throughout his career. A 5 cannot defend Niang. He would cause absolute chaos for them.

The problem is whenever Niang gets in foul trouble we lose.

No different than any other game. Put McKay on Hammons and Niang on Swanigan. Swanigan is a solid player I'll take my chances on Niang the senior being able to hold his own against Swanigan the freshman.

Also, Iowa seemed to figure it out twice this year. They don't exactly have two bulldozers down low...Uthoff was an absolute nightmare for them though I'm sure.

Just zone the crap out of Purdue and keep Niang out of foul trouble and limit the post touches.

Hammons and Swanigan went for 11 and 6, 10 and 5 respectively in their two games vs. Iowa. Didn't exactly make Iowa pay for playing small at the 4 in Uthoff. Uthoff hung 25 and 22. I hope they lose tomorrow and get the 4 in our bracket.

Anyone who thinks Purdue would be a good match up for the cyclones, needs to go and watch some more film. They run 3-7 footers out there ( two of which will be in the NBA ), and we would be in foul trouble in no time

And what they did against Iowa is irrelevant. If you have seen the way they have played the last two weeks, then you would understand it what a nightmare that match up would be (Swannigan is the 3rd option now. The white Andre the Giant sized freshman spelling Hammonds would kill us). .

We used to carve up big teams under Fred. We don't seem to do that this year because our entire offense revolves around getting to the basket.

Ha you are incapable of walking a mile in their shoes. Would you want a freshman 7 foot center that you referred to as andre the giant out there on the perimeter guarding the most versatile forward in the country? Agree to disagree imm pulling for that potential second round matchup.

Our offense is arguably the best one in school history. That side of the ball isn't an issue at all.

3 footers? I AM NOT AFRAID of their 3 footers
